Tips to Improve Indoor Air Quality

Studies show that the air your house can be more polluted as compared to one outside. Fortunately, this article will help you get clean air. Your windows can be spotless and the floors can sparkle. However, for millions of children and adults with asthma, allergies, and other respiratory issues, the house can only be clean if the air is clean.

air conditionersAlthough it is difficult to believe, indoor air is dirtier as compared to what you breathe outside, exposing you to carcinogens ad lung-gunking impurities like dust mites, pollen, pet dander, and other particles suspended in the air.

It is not yet clear whether airflow systems filters can help improve your health. Ideally, there is limited research on the air purifiers. However, if they are used properly, they can help reduce allergy symptoms. The following are tips for choosing the right air filters for your house:

Fiberglass Air Filters

These are thin and have a flat panel surface to trap the particles from the air. These filters are meant to protect your air and heating conditioning equipment to improve the indoor air quality. The good thing about these filters is that they are cheaply available at a low cost.

HEPA Filters

These air filters are designed to offer efficient filtration for your house. They are designed to remove up to 99% of the air pollutants from home. They can be used as standalone air purifiers or house filtration systems. However, these filters restrict a lot of air when they are used as a furnace filter. These filters are quite efficient, but a considerable amount of air pressure is required to force the air through the HEPA filter.

Microns

If you are planning to do away with dusting by using an air filter, the truth is that quality air filter systems can reduce the need for dusting, but they cannot eliminate it. This is because dust in the air is available in a wide range of sizes. Some of the particles are very small for the air filter to capture them.

Other particles may settle on the furniture and other devices in the house. Thus, these particles may fail to get to the air filter. It is a good idea to purchase high-efficiency filters that are great at trapping the smaller particles and not the large ones.
