The events of Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk and Thor -- they're saying all happened in the same WEEK?

Jeez, what the heck did CNN choose to cover?  And fuck, NYC took a beating all in one week -- from Queens (IM2) to Harlem (TIH).

Or, in other words -- this is silly.  laugh

That's what Damage Control is for.

Shit, that might make for a decent TV show.

Sometimes I think about people from my past that teased me about reading comics. You know the type... people that think comics are for children 10 and under, or mentally challenged adults.  I want each and every one of those people to eat a big, steaming bowl of shit, then wash it down with a big warm glass of a $2 whore's piss.

I like to think that people I knew as a kid are jocking this shit now and have grown enough as human beings to admit to themselves on some level that they were wrong. In much the same way that they probably regret giving me shit for being into the Beatles while they had Michael Bolton t-shirts on in the yearbook.

That said, I don't regret keeping my geekery in the closet from High School until 2 weeks ago. Who wants to be known for their most socially awkward qualities first? I think until now, people didn't really get why what we love is so great. The way I see it, now that the world has caught up, I'll tell them- I was in on this shit all along.

Check it, Marvel put out a timeline for the Cinematic Universe:

That's pretty cool. I had wondered about that, glad to see they cared enough to consider such things.

Avengers Crosses $500M Domestically; MIB3 Hits $202M Worldwide

by SuperHeroHype

May 27, 2012

After a lengthy run as the #1 movie at the box office, Marvel's The Avengers will finally give up that spot to Sony's Men in Black 3, but Walt Disney Pictures announced today that the global blockbuster has crossed the $500 million mark domestically in a record 23 days (the previous record of 32 days was held by Avatar), making it only the fourth movie in history to cross that mark. "The Avengers" is currently the #4 film of all time globally with $1.295 billion and trails only Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 ($1.328 billion), Titanic ($2.185 billion) and Avatar ($2.782 billion). The film added $37 million domestically for the three days and is expected to take in $47.1 million for the four-day holiday. Internationally, it added $26.3 million for the Friday-to-Sunday period. "The Avengers" has earned $513.7 million domestically (#4 of all time) and $781.6 million overseas (#5 of all time). The film received an A+ CinemaScore from audiences.

Men in Black 3 began its run with $202 million worldwide for the first few days of release in 106 territories. Of that, an estimated $70 million will come from 4,248 North American theaters during the Memorial Day weekend. The film received a B+ CinemaScore from general audiences and an A- from moviegoers under 18. For the Friday-to-Sunday period, Men in Black 3 took in $55 million, which is ahead of both Men in Black ($51 million) and Men in Black II ($52 million). The film took in $17.925 million on Friday, was up 8% Saturday to $19.445 million, is expected to do $17.630 million today and another estimated $15 million on Monday. IMAX sales contributed approximately $12 million to the worldwide total, which is 20% higher than their previous record for a worldwide memorial day release.

Look for our four-day Memorial Day weekend box office report with final studio estimates for the weekend tomorrow.

Dang, I had no idea Men in Black 3 was going to do that well. This past week I was criticizing movie executives because they didn't release Prometheus during Memorial Day weekend. I guess those movie execs in Hollywood do know what they're doing. Wink

Avengers Blu-ray and DVD Details Surface

by SuperHeroHype

May 28, 2012

The Avengers is still out there making all of the money in the world in theaters and to many of us it's not too early to talk about the eventual home video release.

Luckily the folks over at the Blu-ray Forum and Screen Rant have created a pretty reputable rumor mill about a release date along with the list of versions and special features. The rumored date of release as of now is September 25th and this seems likely since Amazon Germany has the release date as September 13th.

There will be three versions of The Avengers available as a single-disc DVD, two-disc Blu-ray Combo, and a Special Edition 4 Disc Blu-Ray.

The rumored special features for the 4-Disc edition are:

Audio Commentary with Director Joss Whedon
    Marvel One Shot: Item 147
    Second Screen
    Gag Reel
    Deleted Scenes
Alternate Opening - Maria Hill Interrogation
Extended Scene - Loki & Barton Strategize
Steve Rogers - Man out of Time
Nick Fury & World Security Council
Extended Viaduct Fight - Raw Footage
Fury & Hill discuss World Securiry Council
Extended Scene - Banner & Security Guard
Alternate Ending - Maria Hill Interrogation
    Featurettes
        A Visual Journey
        Assembling the Ultimate Team
Soundgarden's "Live to Rise" Music Video

And if for some reason a lot of special features is a turn off for you, the regular DVD edition will have:

Audio Commentary with Director Joss Whedon
    Featurette, 'Assembling the Ultimate Team'

As of now you should still treat this list and potential release date as rumored. Keep an eye open here for when we can comfirm this news.

I wonder how many of those extras are gonna be on the 2-disc blu-ray release.  No interest in the 3D disc, and about the same in the digital copy.

Yeah. I know why they do that, but I kinda hate it.

I definitely hate the fact that bonus features are becoming strictly for blurays. That's bullshit. My PS2 is my DVD player, I'm not ready yet to do PS3, and I'm not just gonna buy a bluray player for special features. So now nobody is happy.

Lady at the late night grocery who looks like someone's grandma was asking everybody who came through the line who their favorite Avenger was. She was super excited about the movie.

This is total next level stuff.
