They love it. They're super amped about it. Most people I'm cool with aren't comic book people, and it's a really big deal for everybody right now. It's nuts, I would've never been able to predict it. A Rocker friend of mine tonight asked me if I was put off by it, I told him I'm not at all. Not even a little. It's awesome.

Whedon is God.  That is all. Sacrifices and hosannas to your right; all others -- will be kindly shown to the Hall of the Outrageously Ignorant.

highest grossing disney release?wow.I know why we like it but what are your non-comic exposed friends say about it?

Some friends of mine took their 8 year old son to see it. They called me and asked what Avengers comic should he read as he wants to learn more about them.

I don't know what to say? I thought there was an all ages Avengers comic?? The only thing I can think of is Avengers Assemble and that's only because of the cast.

Whedon is God.

Yup. Saw it for the fourth time yesterday and it becomes more and more apparent with each viewing that he is was born to do this film. The writing is fucking brilliant. Not just the words they say but the things that are happening all around the film.

For example, I decided this film deserves an Oscar for Bromantic Comedy of the Year because of the awesome relationship that develops between Banner and Stark as a result of Tony's huge man crush. Those characters interactions are pitch perfect the whole movie.

Black Widow could have easily been overlooked as a character. She has tasers. whoopty doo. But the way he highlighted her spy background and made her a master of manipulation (as well as the crazy fighting, but that was featured well in IM2) was brilliant.

Ugh. I won't write a wall of text but I seriously doubt that this will be my last time seeing it at the theater.

I'm glad I have a copy of it already, because I couldn't imagine seeing it 15 times in the theater even at $4.50 a pop.

One line I love is right after Tony regains consciousness and Cap says "We won.," Tony says...

"All right.  Yay!  Good job, guys."

It's so funny...like they're all on a little league baseball team and they just won a game or something.

Peace,

Chip

Thanks PTB. I think they just wanted to walk into a LCS and buy stuff off the shelf. I have about 2 dozen dupes of issues in the range you mentioned so I might just give him those.

Saw it again tonight. It loses nothing in repeat viewings. This time the theater was packed and there were several families. The kids really loved Hulk.

I saw it for a third time, first time with my Little.  He loved it!  We went to the comic book store after, but I couldn't get him interested.  He loves Sonic the Hedgehog.  Anybody else's kids big on Sonic?  That seemed to come out of nowhere.

Battleship Torpedoed by The Avengers' Third #1 Weekend

by SuperHeroHype

May 20, 2012

ComingSoon.net has posted its weekend box office report which says that Marvel's The Avengers once again dominated with another $55.1 million domestically and $56 million internationally to bring its worldwide total to $1.180 billion. The film has reached $457.1 million domestically and $723.3 million overseas:

If you're sick of all of our box office reporting on the mega-blockbuster Marvel's The Avengers (Walt Disney Pictures) then you probably should stop going to see it so much, because it once again dominated the box office with another $55.1 million to take first place, defeating three new movies all which did disappointing business. The Avengers' domestic gross is estimated at $457.1 million after three weekends, putting it just behind Star Wars as the sixth-highest grossing movie of all time domestically.

Internationally, the film continues to keep pace with North America, as it added another $56 million in 54 territories to bring its international total to $723.3 million and its global cume to $1.180.4 billion, making it the fourth-highest release of all time behind only Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 ($1.328 billion), Titanic ($2.183 billion) and Avatar ($2.782 billion).

Just to go over some of the records The Avengers has broken over the past few weeks. It set a new opening weekend record with $207 million, also becoming the fastest movie to achieve that amount, took the second weekend record as well, before becoming the fastest movie to reach $400 million domestically. Right now, it looks like it also might become the fastest movie to $500 million as it becomes only the fourth movie in history to cross that mark in North America. It's also Walt Disney Pictures' most successful movie to date, surpassing Toy Story 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

Yeah, RK Junior loves Sonic too, and it did seem to come out of nowhere a few months back, come to think of it. Anyway, we have been reading the Sonic comics together, so it's not all about the game.
