I bought an Avengers shirt for the movie. I want to rep my geek cred while masking my lack of avengers cred.  Tongue

I'm so excited for the marathon. (THANKS MARV!)

My sister is using her senior skip day to go to the Marvel Marathon our theater is having. This was her idea and I actually had to be talked into it. I have been teasing her about what a nerd she has become. Using senior skip to go see comic book movies probably out geeks anything I have ever done. Lol.

So yeah, Cap, Thor, Incredible Hulk, IM 1 and 2, and finally Avengers. It starts at 11:30 AM with the culmination being the midnight premiere. Pretty sure I am going to catch some Z's through whatever is in the middle. Hopefully not Iron Man 2 since I fell asleep when I watched it when it first came out and haven't caught it since.

I would have preferred a three minute marathon of the post-credit scenes from each film. I am psyched to see The Avengers, but I'm not going to have some revisionist epiphany about the up and down quality of the movies leading up to this film. That's why I actually felt more relief than disappointment when I found out the Marvel-thon was sold out.

But I hope all the folks who are going have an absolute blast. Maybe time your bathroom visit during the cringe-inducing drunken party scene from Iron Man 2 (even the memory of that is painful)...or during the video game in The Incredible Hulk. And by that I meant the entire rumble in Harlem, which looked and felt more like something produced for the XBox rather than a movie screen. Or maybe any scene in Thor that we're supposed to take Portman and her gang seriously as scientists.

See, I'm just looking out for you guys -- especially as I would definitely stay rooted to my seat for Iron Man and Captain America (both far and away the best of the lot).

I don't know if I'm more jealous because you have a cool CAP t-shirt, or because you had dinner with a cool ROCKO!

thinking

This is what is truly enviable:

http://local.yahoo.com/info-28979160-spinelli-s-pizzeria-louisville

I sat facing Burt, Marv sat facing Street Fighter vs. Marvel. Slice of sausage, slice of pepperoni. That's high living.

I've got my Avengers ticket for midnight Thursday. I haven't been this psyched in awhile, and since this one is pretty much guaranteed to deliver, I'm only more excited.

What an amazing thing they're pulling off, here. Most non-comic people don't even get the idea of the shared universe. I remember telling a guy at the bank there was going to be a movie with Cap, Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk in it in 5 years or whenever Iron Man came out and he looked at me like I was a crazy person.

All the actors and directors for the movies so far have been incredibly well suited for what they were doing, but still groundbreaking. I think my favorite was Iron Man 2. It was like a Christopher Guest movie with an incredibly, ridiculously high budget.

Sounds like a great day, KP.  Only thing that would make it better would be another Avengers viewing in the evening.   laugh

Scot, IH and Thor were the weakest of the bunch but I still enjoyed them way more than I thought I would and while I get what you are saying about the video game aspect I don't recall it taking me out of the film, I just remember enjoying seeing Hulk SMASH!

Let me put it this way -- the things I pointed out were 1,000 times more bothersome than whether Batman's cape was scalloped.

Oh that little sound you just heard? No, it wasn't a hummingbird's fart or anybody's heart strings-- it was just a good old fashioned ZING.  Grin

C'mon, that was funny -- at least good enough to replace the point I was apparently docked for expressing an opinion about films. Sigh...whoops, my apologies for whining about imaginary points again. Wink

I wasn't saying you were wrong. Just that it did not bother me.

Red hair and bland capes are deal breakers.

Iffy CGI is okay. In a Marvel movie.  Grin

Oh, Avengers 161 is one of my favorite comics ever. This was Shooter and Perez at their finest. It's the first of a two-parter -- and the cliffhanger was phenomental.

Good taste be damned -- I loved Jan's purple cutout body stocking -- really had a Cockrum Legion vibe. And I also loved Wonder Man's crazy threads with the red tights. Apparently I was one of the few, because the outfit got trashed about 5 issues later.  meh

And who knew Ant-Man could be so cool?

This was also the issue where Ultron learned that he had a vulnerability to Wanda's power -- and where Captain America made a doofus mistake (of which Wanda called him on issues later)  laugh

The second part was just as good -- and introduced an unnamed Jocasta. Really, as two-parters go, this was pretty much picture perfect.

I plan to be wearing a DC shirt though...either my new Deadman shirt or maybe something like Mister Miracle...

Sunuvabitch -- that's right.  You're the one who had the issues with Amy Adams/Lois Lane/hair color.

And I'm more likely the one to say somebody's wrong.  Grin

I think we are simply meant to be mortal enemies. each other's arch nemesis, if you will.  Tell you what, you can be Samuel L. Jackson and I'll be Bruce Willis.  I wouldn't mind a nice slicker...

Except you have a quote that reminds me of Mister Show...damn it, how I can hate you then!?!?

Ah, let 'em try, let 'em try.  Maybe I'll fish out my Justice League shirt instead.  And if their numbers should prove to be to much for me to overcome -- then feat they shall.  More than enough to go around.

They are angling for a stop at the Go Cart track, then a Toys R Us trip to get Quinjets, and then Pizza for dinner, not sure if that'll happen though.

Sunuvabitch -- that's right.  You're the one who had the issues with Amy Adams/Lois Lane/hair color.

I just assumed you were keeping track of everything I said about a movie that annoyed you since the Bat-cape, war horse, and red hair all came up at times well after they were posted. Seems like something an arch nemisis would do...but no. That's absurd.

Unless...
I think we are simply meant to be mortal enemies. each other's arch nemesis, if you will.

Except you have a quote that reminds me of Mister Show...damn it, how I can hate you then!?!?

And through that brief moment of hesitation, I will DESTROY YOU! I mean, end your villainy. Wait, and I a good guy or bad guy damnit? I don't know which movie you were referencing.

Ah, let 'em try, let 'em try.  Maybe I'll fish out my Justice League shirt instead.  And if their numbers should prove to be to much for me to overcome -- then feat they shall.  More than enough to go around.

And with this act of bravery I extend a truce. Let's hug it out.

*reads favorite TV quote ever*
