C'mon, Joe. Not wanting to have Wonder Woman's panties to be comic accurate in a conjecture interview in regards to a movie that never got made doesn't mean that this other movie is gonna be bad, does it?

I don't know much about Whedon as a guy who directs shit, because I never got into anything he did on TV. But I did read Astonishing X-Men. It was allright.

I would imagine directing a movie like this is almost like punching a clock. With all these other directors doing lead ins and what has to be an phalanx of producers, there's no doubt in my mind that this will not be any one man's "vision."

I liked Ultimates, kind of alot. If this is like Ultimates with some punches pulled, it could be great. Some of the more hardcore shit in Ultimates felt like they were doing it just so you would know that this was not mainstream Marvel, which I appreciated. It was always just gonzo enough that I never thought the regular 616 stuff was in jeopardy of being nixed and replaced.

I hope not.

The Skrull angle sounds interesting but what worries me is they have to tiie-in the Cap storyline as well from The First Avenger and they'll run out of time

I see what your saying BUT not if they do a cap movie first they could tell the origins story and do like they have been doing with the ends of iron man 1 and 2 and the hulk

After the creits have rolled on ironman nick fury comes to stark about the avengers project then in part 2 !!!!!!!!!!Spoiler alert!!!!!!!!! capts sheild pops up again.

And at the end of the hulk stark finds the general in the bar and says he putting together a team to handle the hulk. So if they do a capt movie first then have start come to him at the end and asks him to be in the team then the avengers movie could work this way. Without dumbing down parts or seeming out of place or shorting certin roles or story.

What do yall think?

Jeremy Renner to Play Hawkeye in The Avengers?

by superherohype.com

Jun 4th, 2010

Hurt Locker star may play the Marvel Comics archer

Jeremy Renner may be close to locking a deal to star as Clint Barton, AKA Hawkeye, in Joss Whedon's The Avengers, reports Heat Vision.

Since last year, rumors have persisted that Marvel has been after the star of The Hurt Locker to play the character, though official sources would not confirm that Hawkeye even has a role in the upcoming summer blockbuster, much less actor selection.

Renner talked exclusively with SuperHeroHype late last year, indicating that, while he'd love to join the Marvel Universe in some capacity, the film was too far off and, at the time, didn't even have a director. It appears that, with Joss Whedon now on board and pre-production moving forward, Renner may become an official member of the team yet.

Downey Jr. Does His Avengers Homework

by SuperHeroHype

Jun 5th, 2010

Spotted shopping for comics

It looks like Robert Downey Jr. gave one comic book store clerk a day to remember. The "Iron Man" franchise actor was spotted buying both "Iron Man" and "Avengers" comics in Hollywood on Wednesday (June 2nd). It appears he's doing his homework for when he brings his Tony Stark/Iron Man to the set of Marvel Studios' The Avengers, which he'll film after shooting Sherlock Holmes 2.

You can check out a bunch of photos of Downey Jr. at the comic book store at Just Jared!

From IGN:

New Old Avengers Rumors

Casting buzz resurfaces for Ant-Man and Wasp.

June 23, 2010

by Jim Vejvoda

Everything old is new again when it comes to Marvel movie rumors.

ComicBookMovie.com claims that a source close to Marvel Studios has informed them that Firefly's Nathan Fillion "is in final negotiations" to play Dr. Hank Pym, a.k.a. Ant-Man/Giant-Man, in The Avengers. As you know, Firefly creator Joss Whedon is directing the film.

Furthermore, the site says that Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria will indeed play Pym's wife, Janet Van Dyne a.k.a. Wasp, as was first rumored in 2008.

"At this point, they may only be playing S.H.I.E.L.D. scientists. No word on whether any of their super powers will be seen in the first Avengers or not," according to CBM. "Their relationship has not been clearly defined either: simply co-workers and/or husband and wife are all still on the table."

The Avengers begins filming early next year for a 2012 release.

Neat, but Fillion could have made a great live-action Vigilante as well as doing JLU.

A definite (and somewhat rare) case of the voice actor being ideal for the live-action version of a character as well.  I'm sure if one thought about it, a few others would come to mind (like Clancy Brown's Lex Luthor)..

A lot of people said seeing Tim Daly and Dana Delany voicing Clark and Lois looked just right. I'm not so sure, but I wasn't there.

No Edward Norton for The Avengers?

by SuperHeroHype

Jul 10th, 2010

Marvel will allegedly go with an unknown for The Avengers

Edward Norton will not be reprising his role as Dr. Bruce Banner, reports HitFix, who say that Marvel Studios plan to cast an unknown in the part.

The report theorizes that a deal could not be made, despite Edward Norton wanting to join the ensemble cast that will include Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Chris Evans as Captain America.

Marvel Studios is planning a May 4, 2012 release for The Avengers.

From IGN:

A New Hulk for The Avengers

UPDATE: Marvel confirms Edward Norton will be replaced.

July 10, 2010

by Jim Vejvoda

Edward Norton will reportedly not be back as the Hulk for The Avengers, despite his self-professed eagerness to reprise his role as Dr. Bruce Banner.

According to HitFix, Marvel has decided to drop Norton and replace him with an unspecified unknown for the Avengers movie -- a lineup the studio is said to be planning to reveal at this month's San Diego Comic-Con.

The site says they're trying to determine "exactly how far apart the Marvel offer and the Norton camp are in terms of money, but even in early conversations, it sounds like a deal could be made here, and simply wasn't."

No exact reason was expressly given for Marvel's decision to not bring back Norton, but the star and Marvel had a notorious go-around while making The Incredible Hulk.

UPDATED: Marvel Studios sent a statement to HitFix confirming their earlier scoop that Norton will not be back for The Avengers. Marvel honcho Kevin Feige informed the site: "Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members. The Avengers demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble, as evidenced by Robert [Downey], Chris [Hemsworth], Chris (Evans), Sam [Jackson], Scarlett [Johansson], and all of our talented casts. We are looking to announce a name actor who fulfills these requirements, and is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks."
