I'm in the theater now with 7 minutes to go to kick off the marathon.
I keep thinking the same thing MSD. I'd kill for a chance to see a JLA movie come together like this.

I think killing someone, going to prison for life, and replaying a JLA movie in your imagination as you go to your happy place to shut out the molestation from the guards and bigger inmates is about the only way you're going to get a JLA movie to come together like this...

I saw it again last night and it's still the awesomest fuckin' awesome, but this time in 2D and I swear I noticed something different at one point from the 3D version.
It's a scene where Bruce and Tony are talking and you can see Bruce's reflection in a monitor.

Why? Did they remake it in time for the Marvel-thon?
On the bus, rolling down Second Avenue, an hour away. Will post here as soon as its all over ( don't worry, no spoilers -- just initial immediate reaction).
Especially as from the looks of things, I'm likely to be a "tougher critic" than most others here. As it should be.

Everybody gets to do something, everybody gets an arc. There's a whole lot of moving parts in this bitch, and not a second is wasted, but at no point did the movie seem to get out of hand the way so many like this tend to do. The greatest thing about this bunch of Marvel movies is that they've gotten the right directors for each of them. The casting's been great, but getting the right personalities to helm each one from the chair, and culminating with Whedon, who has been doing ensemble casts for years, to be the guy on this thing...This movie is just fantastic. I was high after I saw it. Still smiling. So much fun. So, so much fun. Just when you would think somebody was about to steal the show, another character would get to bust some ass. And every actor is just perfect at their job, you see all the best elements of all these decades of these characters just distilled into dynamite.
Go.
Go.
Avengers.
Yes.

I had high expectations and that movie exceeded them.
Watching all the movies in a row was great as I was able to put a lot of pieces together than I would have otherwise forgot or not caught.
Great crowd in our theater. Lot's of fun comic/pop culture conversations between breaks.
I'll offer more thoughts on everything once my brain has a chance to recover.
On a quick side note, I will say that there were a couple surprises. The Spiderman trailer got me very interested but cautiously so with that story line. And conversely, the Dark Night Rises trailer did nothing for me. I'm sure I will love it but this trailer seemed pretty weak.
EDIT: One character totally stole the show in my theater. Hands down this character got the biggest reactions. Won't spoil anything but...just wow. I had a headache from being so fucking happy.

Gotta tell me who. Hulk? Hulk, right?
Can somebody put a note on the header that we're spoiling spoilering spoiilermeisters?
I never seem to luck out with the trailers. I go to a
lot
of midnight movies, never get the hot trailers. I got fucking Battleship, the Sacha Baron Cohen thing I'm sick of hearing about, and that Pixar thing about the redheaded girl. But- did get a Prometheus trailer that was fuckin' sick. So there is that.
Gonna be a good summer.

And there came a day ...
... a day unlike any other, when Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Heroines found themselves united against a single, common threat! On that day, The Avengers were born, to face the foes no single super-hero could withstand! Through the years, their roster has prospered, changing many times, but their glory has never been denied! Heed the call, then! For now ...
... The Avengers Assemble!
"That's right! We need a name! It should be something colorful and dramatic, like... the Avengers, or..."
""or" nothing! That's it! The Avengers!"
"We'll fight together, or separately, if need be!"
"I pity the guy who tries to beat us!"
"We'll never be beaten! For we are... the Avengers!"
