I used to be big into the classic gaming scene; mostly anything pre-NES. Crap like the Intellivision and Vectrex which I bought up later for too much money once they'd attained "collectible" status. Nearly all of it is gone, now, except for a box full of Atari 2600 and 7800 games. I held onto the 7800 since it plays the 2600 games, and there were a few odds and ends I just didn't want to sell off. Hell, once emulators became commonplace, it seemed kind of goofy to hang on to old systems.

My Atari 7800 and Sega Genesis/Power Base Convertor/CD/32X monster are still hooked up to my TV, along with PS1 and 2. Somehow, I've managed to never own a Nintendo system. Strange, I know.

So I FINALLY manged to find a copy of JLH for the PS2 after looking everywhere except online for it.  Really gotta say after one full run threw that I'm more than a little  so-so on it.   Yeah playing those charecters gives me that warm geeky feeling, especially Flash and Green Arrow, but the game itself isn't even close to being in the same league as MUA.   meh

I'm replaying this next, since I just finished playing MUA for the final time before we switch over to PS3. I like the in-game graphics better, and the characters, but the first four or five levels are annoying, and made all the worse because you can't choose your characters. Plus the game is too short. Other than that though, I can play Jay Garrick and Kal-L! All is forgiven!

The Boy and I were getting bored with it long before the piece of shit Xbox 360 blew up.  I either got to pony up 100 bucks and get the xbox fixed or go pick up the PS2 version, the game really merits neither action though. I might try to finish it once we get the Xbox repaired.

Not being able to choose or swap out a variety of charecters is what put me off the most.  Plus once you get them powered up the game goes from being challenging to almost too easy even on the harder levels.  I also don't like that all the unlockables are revealed for you from the beginning.  For me a large part of the fun with MUA was not knowing and playing to find out which costume I could unlock next.  Even though there were some really good moments in the game, there just wasn't any of those..."whoa that's freaking awesome" moments for me like I was expecting.   meh

Outch...at that price is it even worth getting it fixed?   Haven't actually done any price compairisons lately, but I've been hearing that the price on both the Xbox and Wii have started dropping down to around the $200.00 range.

Yeah, they're supposed to be 199.00 for the holiday season.  Still 99 bucks can buy an awful lot of toys.  It's not in major need of a redo.  It's the classic overheat problem that's plagued as many as 30 percent of X-box owners.  Last time I buy one of those, I'm a Playstation man now.

I wish it was for me, but it's not looking like it's gonna happen anytime soon.   Cry   I found out a couple weeks ago that there's a loop hole in my coverage under my partner's health insurance and because I'm not a "legal" spouse.  I now have a $1,500.00 deductable that has to be paid off before I can even think of upgrading to a new system.   Roll Eyes

How much does your partner spend on you at Christmas?   Grin  Remember the PS3 is also a Blu -Ray player and those Blu-Ray drives are like 300 bucks on their own, you get the PS for free basically.

Usually we'll spend a couple hundred a peice on each other for
X-Mess, but I've already worked out this year's budget for that and told him we can't aford it.  Between us we have 14 "kids" we buy for and 5 adult couples we give money in a card to.   Which averages out to around $40.00 on the "kids" and $20.00 for each of the adults.
The budget goal this year is to keep the holiday spending right around $1,000 without having him put anything on the "emergency" credit card.  Since we've already had to rely on that a bit to much this year for car repairs, ect.   Roll Eyes
Sigh...really wish they'd offer the PS3 without that blue ray player bullshit because then I could fit it into the budget.   Angry

I'd cut the adults loose.  I have an understanding with my family.  Keep the money you would have spent on me and buy something for yourself, and I'll do the same.  This insures we all get something we want.

Unfortunately his family is NOT that understanding and would be offended IF I even suggested that.   Roll Eyes   Mind you he wouldn't suggest that because it took me years to finally wean them off his financial tit.  When we first got together he used to spend a couple thousand on X-Mess for his family and would barely manage to get that credit card dept paid off before it was time to do it all over again.
That came to an end after he spent weeks tracking down a violin for his niece that he paid $300.00 for and that the "cunt in law" tried to sell a year or so later at a garage sale for $25.00.  I had a freind of mine buy it for me, made sure he seen it and then resold it on eBay for $50.00 less than he paid.   eeevil    The next year instead of buying high priced tools for his brother or expensive perfume for his sister in law, he gave them a card with $40.00 in it.  While their kids got one $40.00 present each.   Grin

Understood.  That's a slippery slope making suggestions and comments about the other person's family.  I managed to get in pretty good with my wife's family and now I can tell them they're all fucked in the head, but every situation is a bit different.  Even if they are peckerheads, you have to let your partner come to that conclusion.....although there are subtle things you can do to lead him there quicker.   Wink

My family did NOT like that suggestion either, they're very sentimental about Christmas and stuff, but since it was my family it was easier for me to implement.  My mom keeps trying to undermine that though.... she'll get me a gift, and then I have to come prepared because I don't want to look like a jackass son that didn't get his mom a gift when she got him one.  My mom is like June Cleaver and Senator Palpatine all rolled up into one.
