I think the sequel is fully enjoyable by itself, but there is a point in it where the result of fight from the original (not gonna spoil it) can be changed, much to your detriment.  The whole thing is pretty tied into the first game, as well.  I'd definitely recommend playing both.

Yeah.....it's a story telling trilogy of games.   So playing the 2nd one before the first would be like reading "The Two Towers" before "The Fellowship of the Ring".  I'm in no way compairing it to those....just using that as an example.  Personally the first 2 are some of my favorite games and I'm eagerly awaiting the release of the 3rd.   Grin

I picked them both up at the local game store.  I LOVE Greek mythology, have since I was a kid, the only thing that kept me from buying these sooner (other than a Playstation that is) is the gore.  Not a fan of over the top gore....but I've heard these games are just too good, and the story is really good, so I'm going try and ignore that.

I was hoping that the Jason and the Argonauts game that came out earlier this year was going to be good, but all accounts have it as being a meh sort of game.  Course everyone raved over Assassin's Creed, and that's just one fucking level over and over again, so you just never know.

According to Destructoid.com and others, God of War I & II are getting remastered for PS3.  Can't wait for November.  Guess my brother can keep my PS2 GoW games I let him borrow.

The original GOW can be played in 720P I think, I wonder if there is a big enough difference to warrant getting these instead of the PS2 versions I have.

There was a write-up in this month's GamePro.  Man the size of some of the enemies and environments is ridiculous.  They'd have to have a whiteboard a thousand feet long to draw this game up.  Also seamless cut-scenes.  They kind of got there before from what I gathered, but the PS3 makes it a reality.

The PS2 versions are practically perfect for that system.  Gonna be great to see what improvements they make, and of course get ready for GoW III to hit next year.
