picked up the first three issues yesterday, and HOLY SHIT, what a great read!
tell me what you think. I'll post a more in-depth review after I hear some feedback.

Yes, I'd say my reading is kick-ass.
Never heard of it, who's the publisher/creator/artist etc?

It's a Millarworld title.
Matthew Vaughan is working on the film of it at the moment.

Let's hope it's getting better treatment than Wanted appeared to have received. That movie looks completely different from the book.

a lotta people are saying that, makes me wanna see it less and less.
anyway, Kick-Ass is about a nerd who decides (In a world without superheroes) that he's gonna become one.
guess what?, he fails, his first night out.
miserably.
so bad, that he gets stabbed in the chest, then hit by a car. The cops find him naked and bleeding in the street (he's gotta protect his secret ID, so he stripped all of his clothes off).
he spends the next six months getting patched up, and staying in bed.
as soon as he's healthy again, he goes back out, and gets the shit kicked out of him again, only this time, he somehow manages to win (just barely). But some onlookers got it on video, and put it on YouTube, making him a star.
so, now he's had the shit kicked out of him twice. Rumors are flying that he's peddling his ass in boys town, and his tricks are beating him up for his money. (It's a good cover, anyway). The girl he wants to fuck now thinks he's gay, so he becomes the non-threatening gay best friend.
so, that's the first two issues, in a nutshell. It's pretty awesome, and one of JRJR's best works.

That actually sounds really good.
With regards to Wanted, they totally stripped away the Super-villain/Super-Hero aspect of it. It's now a secret society of assasins.

ick, one of the interesting elements, gone.
oh well, I'm still gonna watch it, but it's now gonna just be another generic shoot-em-up, whereas it could've distanced itself from the pack.
anyway, they really have no way to remove the superheroic elements from this one, because that's kinda the entire point.
he's the world's 'first' Superhero, and he gets fucked up. A lot.
I can't see his career lasting long, to be honest.
For the record it's one of the "Mature Titles" being published under Marvel's "Icon" imprint (think "Vertigo"). It's creator-owned, and it's written by Millar, with John Romita Jr. on pencils.

And that's exactly what they did. I'd rather they just made their own movie inspired from a few of Wanted's ideas and left Wanted for someone else to make.
I don't normally like JRJR's stuff, but I'm going to try this one out. I typically enjoy Millar's original stuff.

Issue #3 just hit last week.
if your LCS is awesome, they've still got some copies of #1 and 2 on the shelf (I hadda settle for a second printing of #1, but since the story matters more than the edition, I didn't mind).
I didn't include any spoilers from #3, so that if you did wanna read it, I wasn't ruining much. But believe me, Issue 3 is just as good.

Yup, I think you'll be surprised. I really quite liked it (there were some things that I didn't, like the kid's shirts- They tried to be witty, but came off as forced), but for the most part, it was a pretty good portrayal of a geek who found his balls in the anonymity of superheroics.

It really didn't pick up for me until issue 3. He was just so outrageously stupid until now.

that's the fun of it.
you wanna be a superhero, all you've got is a costume.
no armor, no training, no real weapons, what did you think was gonna happen?
if it was "Get stabbed, beat the fuck up, and hit by a car" you win a rubber tortilla.

Issue 1 and 2 were sold out, so I passed on 3. I'll wait for the trade or for second printings.
