I'm getting more of where you guys are coming from now, but at the end of the day in the "these toys matter more than these toys" argument, I'd think POP would be low on the list.  The line is called Master of the Universe Classics.  Yes, they've been kind enough to throw in other stuff as well, but it's not in the "mandate."

Similarly G.I. Joe made a Matt Trakker figure from the MASK line.  It was cool, but I didn't hear folks demand the rest of them.

Very interesting points, guys.

As I've said, I like DEKKER and will definitely buy him, but I didn't expect to see him for another couple of years, if even then.  MATTEL certainly have made some bizarre choices for this line.

But to me, it seems like it's a 'bases loaded, bottom of the 9th, down by 3' kind of thing.  MATTEL pretty much has no choice to offer nothing but Heavy Hitters.  If they don't?  That could be the bitter end.  If they do, people sign up, and the line continues at least 2 more years.  Then they can give it a shot with some of the B and C list characters.  There are loads and loads of loyal fans out there that will buy all the 'real' stuff...it could just be that even they are sick of the Concept stuff.  The price increase was the final straw.

I like SLL, but I also ignore bios.  To me, he doesn't really fit in well with the barbaric, sword and scorcery elements of MOTU that I like.  I just see him as a cool looking figure of a 'space knight', or something.  If I saw him in a toy store and had no idea what toy line he belonged to, I'd still buy him.  I love that sword and mace!

But could I do without him if it meant seeing a Vintage figure instead?  Yep.  Easily.   Wink

Should PoP have been it's own sub?  Just wondering if there's a contingency of doll collectors out there who wish they could get the whole collection without having to buy all of those stupid He-Man dolls, too.  We're kind of forgetting that PoP wasn't really intended for "us".  In fact, when you look at it from a distance, it looks pretty short-sighted on Mattel's part not to make the PoP selection of figures more attainable by their Barbie collectors/female customer base.

Comic shop guy called me today, someone brought their entire MOTUC Collection into the store, it was all loose. He is going to bring me the 10 Griffins the guy had for 15 dollars a piece because the dude painted the noses different colors. Think Gio's going to be happy to get more of them. Guy also had 10 Wind Raiders, but they are all completely painted different colors for different characters. He is going to bring them by as well to see if we can make a deal on them.
