Just wondering if people are excited about this or not. Ovanni Batman is starting to get into the old He Man DVD's, so it's perfect timing for me. I just hope we get the stables out of it at the very least.

I'm still lukewarm about it.

I'll reserve my judgement until I know who's gonna be in wave one.

I can't say as I'm excited. The last revival's mismanagement pretty much sapped the novelty of seeing these characters back on shelves again. Yeah, I'll buy 'em, but I won't be limping creepily around a KB Toys waiting for that evening's shipment because of a tip from an assistant manager ever again. (Long story, there...  Embarrassed )

My main hope is for a ground-up reboot that goes back to the pseudo-Conan vibe of the original mini-comics and other pre-cartoon ancillary materials. The last reboot pretty much recycled all the old elements of the cartoon and failed. It's time for something more drastic.

Yeah, I liked it best as a kinda sword 'n sorcery thing, like the Superman team-ups and the original mini-series era, before all the silly shit like Snout Spout or even Buzz Off. Stratos is cool though. The 1982(?) stuff.

My watching the cartoon was kinda obligatory, even then. It was boring.

I was a touch old to be caught up in He-man fever originally.  Having not really cared for the cartoon, I didn't have much to hook me with merchandise.

I guess I'm one of the bigger HE-FANS on the board.  I'm psyched about this for a couple of reasons:

1) Super articulated figures
2) MATTEL seems to be going for a more retro look
3) The line is geared totally towards adult collectors
4) Supposedly, there will be evenly packed cases

And I agree with you guys about a lot of MOTU stuff.  Even when I was 12/13 years old and it was all the rage, I hated ORKO, ( GLEEK and SNARF, too ) and I thought that about 90% of the later characters were just plain stupid.

But yeah... the whole Sword and Scocerty-Lite thing is kinda cool to me.  And many of the early characters have cool designs.  I can't wait to see the first wave.

I'm cautiously optimistic.  If I'm just going to re-buy the figure I got in 2002 with extra articulation I'll pass.

That's me exactly. I was confused as all hell when the cartoon hit and He-Man, the big, semi-civilized barbarian dude who lived in a stone hut from the original mini-comics did the whole "By the power of Shazam! Greyskull!" thing.

Prince Adam? Orko? My ass.

The cartoon was weak, no doubt, but when you're a kid and this stuff has put the zonk on your brain, I guess you take what you can get. (see Friends, Super)

See and this is where I show my youth. I was about, 5 I guess when the toys and cartoons started flowing and I loved the cartoons and the toys. Though I did almost burn the house down once when I watched some medevil movie with my dad when I was 8, they shot flaming stuff from the catipult at the castle in the movie. So the next day I had Skeletor storm Greyskull, and I lit a balled up piece of paper of fire and threw it at Grayskull. Lit my carpet on fire and burned poor Ram Man all to shit......

Anyway, I hope we at least get the main dudes from the cartoon. I am discouraged at no BAF, because I don't know how else you are going to get Battle Cat without it. And you have to have fucking Battle Cat.

This one better move. Static Cat was a pain-in-the-ass. And that fuzzy felt bastard Panthor. But you know what was worse? Stridor, the horse. He even had metal-style jointed legs that SO looked like they'd move, but it was still stuck in one pose. Stupid unmoving fantasy cyborg equine bullshit.

That fuzzy shit on Panthor drove me crazy. And the same with the horse they were just boring molded plastic. And the She-Ra shit, with the exception of the Horde needs to stay away. I still remember Hordac and Skeletor marching down the hall to my sisters room when she wasn't there. Trashing the She Ra castle and killing that goofy looking bastard that had the beating heart you could see. I ripped his head off and stuck it on a tooth pick, and Hordac took She Ra back to be his slave girl like Leia in Star Wars.

Holy shit did I get the mess beat out of me that night.

Oh, I loved the toys, and I never missed the cartoons. I guess I was maybe six or seven when MotU hit. I just distinctly remember the toys coming first for me and the cartoons coming later, so in my mind, the fiction was defined by the mini-comics. The cartoon felt watered down, what with Orko and Adam the pampered prince and all that stuff. Truth is, I was just a stodgy old fuck even as a kid.

Anyway, I hope we at least get the main dudes from the cartoon. I am discouraged at no BAF, because I don't know how else you are going to get Battle Cat without it. And you have to have fucking Battle Cat.

Damn right we need a Battle Cat. A big fucking fierce bastard who doesn't talk or turn into a cowardly kitty, like so:

As one of the senior (citizen)  Grin members here, I have no real love for MotU but I do hope you guys get some love from the line.  About the only way I'd buy any is in a two-pack with Warlord, Claw, Stalker, Shining Knight, etc.

I don't want retro looking shit.

I have retro looking shit, it's called the old shit that I kept from when I was a kid.

it's all in immaculate fucking shape.

I want new takes on old concepts, it's not hard to piece together a vintage MOTU collection if you want that. I don't, I've already got that.

I want fantastic, blow my fucking socks off sculpts by the four horsemen. I don't want limited color palletes, we live in the '00s, I want some fucking paint ops on those motherfuckers. I want great articulation, and I want superior sculpt. I don't want the same fucking body and basic parts reused a thousand fucking times. I don't mind seeing it here and there, but if they could make the last line a faithful update (and don't tell me it wasn't), then they can do it again here.

I don't want everybody to have the same fucking boots and trunks, and I certainly like the new He-Man's axe and Shield better than the classic one, even if I do think the sword's shit.
