Why would you even care what Mattel bothers with? These are amazing!

Thanks guys.
Adding an updated photo now that GA Bats and Sandman have arrived at my door:
Aside from working on necessary costume variants, and tweaks to existing figures, I'm waiting for wave 19 Al Pratt.
I suppose I could use DCD Earth-2 Supes and FA Wondy as placeholders, as I've done with Jay, Huntress, and E-2 Robin for now...
... which just leaves the biggie: Thunderbolt (gulp).
I'm waiting to see what happens for the sub this week to determine how I handle him.

A little late here, but both of those are incredibly sharp! Much nicer than what Mattel would do.
Keep going!

Can't decide if I "hate" you more for that sharp-as-can-be Mister Terrific or that dazzling Star-Spangled Kid.
And my my my...doesn't Alan Scott look even more crotchety at the table?

LOVE your Star Spangled Kid!!! I want that figure so bad!
(Mr. T looks excellent but I still have no love for that character).
And the table looks fantastic!
I hope your next character is the Thunderbolt. . .I've been thinking about trying him lately and then molding/casting him in something similar to the JLU version bit then I realize how down on DC I am and I move on.

Oh MY GOD! I must have that table!
Did you put the logo on or did they. Because I need both JLA and JSA ones!
Love your JSA set. It's awesome.

Max, I provided the design to Paul at
www.lasermego.com
, and he did the hard work. The tables are a great price and I heartily recommend 'em. I have some more ideas I'd like to send his way.
Here's a link to my thread with my JLA table set he made for me:

Wrapping up the JSA #2: Sandman, Simon & Kirby-style

Working on alternate costumes for the Society, and this one is probably the most significant:
Wes Dodds ran around in this for quite a while during his time with the JSA. Now, Doc and I did our Mighty Mess Two-On-One a while back where you can read more about Wes' trip to the new tailor. While I had concentrated on the 70's Sandman, Doc unleashed his version of the Simon & Kirby suit there (
http://www.criticalmess.net/index.php?page=425
) and now here's my take.
The ever-useful Atom is the base. I re-sculpted the mask line, added the belt buckle, and for value-add, because it's such a simple costume, sculpted the glove and boot edges to give them a bit more presence.
After some trial-and error-with mixing, colours are straight-up Folk Art "Perfect Purple" and Americana "Antique Gold". Unlike Doc's choice of using gold leaf paint, I wanted to try a bit more of a compromise with the comic colour, and I'm happy with how it came out.
I've yet to see what the DCUC Sandman's gas gun is going to be like, since it didn't come with my 'advance copy', so I wasn't quite sure what to do with the holster since I didn't know what it would be required to fit, but I found Starman's worked perfectly for my needs.
Now, the elephant in the room here is that Wes Dodd's outfit usually was depicted with two holsters, but I need to get another Ted Knight and then alter it so he can have one on his left side too. It'll happen, but I'm not too fussy about it at the moment, as I'm just happy to have this version with the rest. And I've got a great sensible use for the holster-less Ted which you'll be seeing shortly.
So, I've still got a couple more alternate costumes to look at, and a few minor tweaks, I have to admit I'm stalling a tad because I'm waiting to see if the DCUC sub goes through. The only real character I don't have any representation for at this point (DCUC or DCD, where reasonably applicable) is Johnny's Thunderbolt. I've got some ideas as to how I'd like to handle Ol' Lightning Head, but before I proceed, I'm waiting to see if there's any hope for a Mattel version...
Anyway, more soon! Comments welcome, and thanks for looking.

Beautiful work yet again, RK.
And putting aside your marvelous customs...how do you get these other figures that I didn't think were even released yet? Or did you get them from overseas (seem to recall you saying something like that once)?

Xavion posted a link to a Hong Kong seller that had some Sandman and Stargirl, sans accessories, among others, a few weeks back, of which I availed myself. They have some paint issues, but they were decently priced and fun to have early. No sales lost though, MikeS still gets my dough.
