So here it is guys and girls! (all two of us!) the first of hopefully many ART-icle Showcases so budding artists, illustrators and doodlers can come together and share, inspire and amaze the creative talents of Critical Mess members.

I shall be running this monthly, so expect a new topic to be announced within the first week of each month.

You get approx two weeks to work on something and then we shall post them within a fancy article on the front page of the site.

A topic will be picked by a random member but if you have one that you REALLY want to share by all means PM me with it.

The Rules: There are very few as it is in each persons prerogative. You can use any medium, any genre that you desire just as long as you stick within the topic.

You can of course include refs to pop culture if you wanted if you saw a way to work that in, the choice is yours!!

The one thing that I do want to stress is; THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION, OR A WAY FOR CRITISCISM OR NEGATIVITY.

Constructive criticism, sure! as I hope to learn from you guys and be inspried myself but please remember there is no right or wrong in art... it's all in the eye of the beholder.

Once you feel your work is finished, post it within the thread, you can tell us about it if you wish or let the art talk for itself.

So without further ado! lets get this show on the road! Smiley

ok, making sure you see it--I'll do something, setting the bar so low others have to participate.

I'm not sure this counts.  One, it's portrait, not landscape.  Two, I did it years ago, so it's not specifically for the challenge.  Three... Well there is no three, but there should be, dammit!

I like it. Thumb's Up

Is that wording in the boys shadow, or am I just seeing things?

Actually, it's all digital.

"Pencils", Inks and wash all done in Photoshop.   I rarely get the chance to go all "analog"... that and I've become addicted to the Command-Z keystroke.  UNDO is your friend!  LOL!

Ain't that the truth. My job involves more Photoshop than it should, but I can't begrudge the opportunity it's given me to learn as much as I want to about the app.

It's wonderful Mirthy! you wouldn't think it was.

Do you favour working digitally?

It's a lot less messy for sure... sometimes you want to feel the brush, and smell the paint, though...

It's then that I curl up in the corner with an open bottle of Gesso, take a couple of big whiffs, put the lid back on it, and go back to work on my computer.

Problem is lack of portability.  one of my favorite things to do when I'm "conventioning" is take my sketchpad down to the hotel bar and sketch random people.  Not only does it keep me in practice, but it pays my bar tab.

Right that's what I was wondering as I don't get the same thing from doing something digitally. Even though I know the work is there and I've done it there is something missing for me that I get from pen to paper. Smiley

Great idea for the bar tab! laugh

Not as much as I'd hoped. it was a rough week. This is a digitally-enhanced photograph.
