Not pumped for Happy at all for some reason.

WE3 was good, though.

When Grant is good, he's awesome, but when it requires a book full of annotations to explain your book (final crisis) you aren't impressing anybody.

Seemed appropriate to post this here, given the impetus behind it.

I won't say his best days are behind him -- except that I just did.

I don't get when it became a sin to write a complicated book that requires more knowledge than "Hero A beats up Villain B" to appreciate.

There are shit loads of comics that can be read in three minutes with minimum thought.

Personally, I like to have to think every now and again.

I'll take Final Crisis over Blackest Night, AVX or Flashpoint any friggin' day.

Complicated isn't a sin, but the really good writers can do complicated without making it seem complicated. For years now, I get that Grant has always trying to top his last great idea. His work reminds me of the kid on MadTV -- "look at what I can do."

Hmm.  I wonder what a comic universe completely, totally created from scratch by Grant would be like.  I wish someone like Boom would give him his own imprint to play with, as well as hand-pick a few writers and artists to join him.  I bet it wouldn't take much of a tug to steal Gail Simone away from DC, for example.

It would probably look a lot like this:

It is only a sin when you're the ONLY person who understands it. Nobody can sit there and honestly tell me they got it on the first read through.
