One interesting element of the comic Watchmen is how vibrant the colors are... Surprised colorist John Higgins went with such a colorful palette given the dark and noirish nature of the story. Then again the deconstruction/satire of heroes might have not have worked as well if they went all grim and gritty with the colors...
Mattel nailed the colors and even the missing button on the coat! Add in that their Walter Kovacs is infinitely more posable than DCD's which is a little better than a staction, but not by much.
DC Direct movie Rorschach is pretty damn similar, sans the missing coat button and different ink blots... His colors are washed out like they were in Snyder's movie, and the scarf is a different color...

Reading the DCnU is like trying to shit a brick. It's agonizing. While I'm one of the few people around here who thought there might be some actual merit in a relaunch, the execution has been just that, an execution.

Not loving the Mattel Dr. Manhattan... the head just looks clunky on the neck (although it looks slighty better than their neckless Phantom Stranger), and the generic base body doesn't give Manhattan the towering presence and distinct Gibbons illustrated body type from the comics...
He has a lot more articulation than the DCD movie version, but the DCD movie sculpt is better hands down. Mattel headsculpt is solid and comic-ish, but I don't think they nailed Manhattan's distant and sometimes tragic look that Gibbons gave him....
Here's the movie version...

Rod Keith said it best; isn't this what we wanted all along? The very epitome of a good sub line is this: A popular collection of heroes, all the version people want, and finished in one "wave". Unless you aren't a Watchmen fan, this one is a no brainer.

Also forgot the Silhouette and whoever that Catwoman-style villain Nite Owl fantasizes about. Of course we'd be lucky to get a second year, never mind another female figure from Mattel. But one can dream.

Ta, guv! That's a point.
As far as the cost goes, yeah, I can see that be a breaking point for some people. The way I look at it is, this is the only way you're going to get a DCUC version of the team without paying for or making customs yourself, which would be a lot more expensive and time-consuming than $25 + shipping.

I really wish they had started with the characters who were most changed in the movie, so the likeness to the comic would stand out more. Mattel's Nite Owl or Silk Spectre are probably going to look really good. And Ozymandias too.

I Comedian comes with two heads... pre and post scarred.
BTW-- I don't hate the ENTIRE movie... I love the part where Comedian beats the living shit out of the hippies and peaceniks.
That's one thing I think we can all agree upon, hippies need to be beaten early and often.

He could do with three, I think (I know...!) - middle-aged/domino-masked (Crime-Busters), white-templed, old and scarred, and leather-full-masked.

I'd rather have a caved in, post fall from window head.
Just so I could recreate this.

Having just watched that clip, anyone think Kevin Costner would've made a great Ozymandius circa that film?

YES
And I'm so looking forward to the Comedian, I think his figure is going to be the best of the bunch
Although will Nite Owl be fat and old or young and slender?
