In which Harry Potter literally kills Allan Quatermain with his dick.

And is the Antichrist.

So, I guess from now on, I’m sticking to Watchmen, Swamp Thing, and The Killing Joke.

And Miracleman, if and when Marvel pulls the stick out of their ass.

People have been saying it for a while, but I am now seeing that Moore has become a parody of himself.

This, I suppose, is what we get for continuing to support DC......

Is it really "Harry Potter"?  I thought Rowling was over-protective of her characters.  It might actually be fun to see her sue Moore's beard off.

Though he kinda looks like Hagrid, so maybe she'll let him slide.

He didn't come right out and say it, but there was no other character it could be.

The details up to and including the reveal lead to no other conclusion.

Yeah, it's clearly Harry. It occurs to me the 'dick' is a crude way of showing he no longer needs the 'wand' as a stand-in.

I got a kick out of the new "M" being "Em"... As in Emma Peel.

And with that, if it is not a gross exaggeration, he's become even more of an embarrassment than Frank Miller.

Quote
Page 60. Panel 1. Chris Sims writes, “You might’ve missed this one: His ding-dang? It’s like a wand.”

Greg Daly writes, “The 'penis as wand' gag here is something implied throughout the Harry Potter books.  The Hogwarts stories can be understood as a magical rather than a sexual coming of age -- it seems that sex is wholly sublimated as magic in the books. All teachers are celibate, with one teacher's lycanthropy standing in as a surrogate homosexuality, with closed-minded parents fearing that exposure to him will somehow harm their children. More broadly, male students are expected to excell in Defence Against the Dark Arts, where the wand is the primary tool, while female ones tend to do best in Potions, reliant most heavily on the cauldron; the sexual symbolism of wands and cauldrons is fairly clear. In the final Potter book, Rowling repeatedly uses phallic language when describing the use of Potter's wand, and it's significant that for a significant part of the book he's rendered impotent when his wand is broken.
In other words, this isn't just a cheap and puerile joke. It might be that too, of course...”

Greg Arnott writes, “you may find it useful to look into Crowley's symbolism of the wand to clarify the death of Alan Quatermain by Harry Potter's cock. Particularly Chapter VI of Book 4: Book 2: Magic, "The Wand". Its a tricky chapter for an aspiring magician who goes around talking about "constructing a baculum" without knowing what the word means in the non-esoteric sense. “

Yeah, I don't think it's as out-of-left-field as it seems when taken out of context.

Also, literary critics were besides themselves about the Potter books and, dear lord, films.

To those erudite scholars, Potter IS the anti-christ of 2009.

Wait....female students were expected to excel in potions?

Which book was this?

Hermione fucked up the polyjuice potion in Chamber of secrets, one of her few missteps.

Somebody is definitely reaching, or has never actually read the books.

Been saving this for a rainy day, I loved it.

And...the Antichrist is actually an Amalgam of two characters.

Whilst the King's Cross/Hogwarts stuff is obviously Potter, as well as the scrubbing of the forehead lightning bolt, check the folder in the records office of "Hogwarts"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_is_Rising

And as for the "dick" thing.

Don't forget how much modern magic owes to Alistair Crowley, a man who basically did everything he did in order to get laid and do drugs.

Sex Magick is a big deal within certain circles and the wand/phallus thing has been highly remarked on.

Check out Crowley's "Abbey of Thelema" period to see what I'm talking about.

There's also the metaphysical thing, where Moore is commenting on mass market, repeatedly marketable "pop" fiction.

The fact that "Potter" urinates Quartermaine to death?

DC>Moore>Watchmen anyone.
There's an English expression, "Taking the piss". laugh

Loved all the cameo's as always.

The Bond's, Unit and Torchwood and Doctor's One Eleven and Jack Harkness, The Avengers girl's and Pussy Galore and plenty of British stuff that will probably pass you lot by.

Check for:

Sid the Sexist and Roger Mellie.
The shark is Hookjaw not Jaws.
The Tesco's dig
Gosh Comics
Nemesis the Warlock
Father Ted and Black Books references
A Reginald Perrin reference
Arthur Daly and Terry McCann (Minder)
Treens from Dan Dare
Gene Hunt and Alex Drake from Ashes to Ashes (Life on Mars sequel)
Characters from Spooks
Little Britain and Fast Show characters
Andy Millman is a charater from Ricky Gervaise's Extras.
Appearances from Wurzel Gummage and Thomas the Tank Engine

To my credit, I did pick up on the Black Books and Little Britain references. And I heard "Em's" Torchwood reference, but missed Jack. Where was he?
