They don't get shit -- unless Marvel decides to give them something. That's why when Dave Cockrum was very ill -- Neal Adams petitioned Marvel to give him a settlement -- after the success of the first two X-Men films -- featuring characters he co-created -- Mystique, Storm, Nightcrawler (actually created solely by Cockrum) -- and Colossus.

Does the X-Men Sequel Have a Title?

by SuperHeroHype

July 30, 2012

Following rumors a few months back that 20th Century Fox had bought the URL DaysOfFuturePast.com, a Russian site called StarkIndustries.ru (via Latino-Review) are claiming that Fox  are going with X-Men: Days of Future Past as the planned title for the currently Untitled X-Men: First Class Sequel.

Those who've read the comics know that the two issue story, taking place in Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142 way back in 1981 during Chris Claremont and John Byrne's run, introduced the idea of an alternate future for Marvel's mutants that comes out of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants killing an important senator, leading to a future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels.

If this is in fact the plan, this opens up a lot of intriguing ideas since the original two-part story heavily featured Wolverine (who only cameod in X-Men: First Class) and an older version of Kitty Pryde, who appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand, as played by Ellen Page, but not in First Class either. The storyline also introduced Rachel Summers, an alternate future spawn of Scott Summers and Jean Grey, and the ultimate Sentinel called Nimrod.

The choice to explore this storyline is also interesting since writer Simon Kinberg recently hinted to SuperHeroHype that the sequel would focus on the relationships between Professor X and Magneto, as played by James McAvoy and Mike Fassbender, and Mystique and Hank McCoy, as played by Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult, and that they'd retain the period aspect of First Class. With that in mind, we can probably assume that the sequel won't be a direct adaptation of the Claremont/Byrne story but will use elements from that storyline.

The First Class Sequel is Officially X-Men: Days of Future Past

by SuperHeroHype

August 01, 2012

Rumored earlier this week, the sequel to 2011's X-Men: First Class is officially titled X-Men: Days of Future Past. IGN scored a confirmation directly from the film's producer, Bryan Singer.

"It's called 'Days of Future Past'," he told the site. "It deals with aspects of that comic, but also some very new things."

The comic book storyline, "Days of Future Past" ran in Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142 way back in 1981 during Chris Claremont and John Byrne's run and introduced the idea of an alternate future for Marvel's mutants that grew out of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants killing an important senator, leading to a future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels.

As you can see in the video player below, Singer also says that the hope is to expand the X-Men franchise to become as complete a world as the interconnected film universe of Marvel's The Avengers.

Patrick Stewart Teases a Return to X-Men

by SuperHeroHype

September 26, 2012

Since the release of X-Men: The Last Stand in 2006, there have been many rumors about a fourth entry in the franchise even after the release of the Wolverine solo film and the prequel X-Men: First Class. Newsarama is now reporting that Patrick Stewart basically said he's coming back, but in which film?

At the 2012 Montreal Comic Convention, he was asked by a fan about returning to the series and he replied "I think there is every possibility" and then began to say the names of his female co-stars "Halle Berry! Famke Janssen! Rebecca Stamos! Anna Paquin!" Stewart then said, "yes, I'll be reprising..."

While this is not official and frankly might be Patrick Stewart messing with all of us, could we see him return to the big screen in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past? Check back here for more details as they emerge.
