I think Dozy Bird would be a more appropriate title for the current series.

Dozy Bird would make an awesome sidekick for nU Babs.

Very nicely done interview, Gill. I'm glad it made its way online. The JLI era may have been pretty crap as far as storytelling went, but damned if Andy Helfer couldn't find great artists for it. Kevin Maguire, Ty Templeton, and Adam Hughes were all pitch perfect for the superhero sitcom, yet all had very different styles.

And the Batgirl statue with her looking like a confused twit was a bad choice. But everyone makes mistakes.

Yeah, I agree that it was a bad choice, but there was a fair bit of speculating that it was DC's mistake and not Hughes'.  That this was the image that Hughes first submitted, but that DC nixed it:

I've always enjoyed AH's work, thanks for the interview.

I was definitely disappointed to hear that he's no longer doing Con sketches.  I can understand the reasoning, but it's still a huge shame.  A few rotten apples spoiling it for the rest of us.  Maybe someday he'll be able to offer them again, perhaps if the buyer signs some sort of a contract?

Doubtful. That would be too difficult to police.

Not to mention that convention sketches themselves fall into a legally gray area.

I thought Hughes's major issue was that he was never satisfied with his work and spends too long on each piece as a result.

FINALLY got around to reading this -- awesome work.  I've always liked the covers I've seen by Adam Hughes -- now that appreciation will only be deepened!

I always liked his Baroness, which never got used as it was 'too sexy'.

Somewhere I have a copy of his Warriors stuff, from early in his career.
