Iron Man 3
Confirmed to Include Iron Patriot!
by
SuperHeroHype
May 30, 2012
SuperHeroHype has confirmed that Shane Black's
Iron Man 3
will feature the red, white and blue Iron Patriot armor. What is uncertain, however, is exactly who will be wearing it.
The armor made its first appearance in 2009's "Dark Avengers" #1. Following the events of the "Secret Invasion" crossover, Norman Osborn was mistakenly heralded as an American hero and tasked with leading a group of government-sanctioned Avengers. Taking the technology from Stark Industries, Osborn designed his suit to represent the then-recently-deceased Captain America.
Because the character of Osborn is a
Spider-Man
villain and the rights rest at Sony Pictures, it's pretty much a certainty that a different character will be donning the suit in the upcoming film.
Now in production in North Carolina,
Iron Man 3
stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, James Badge Dale, Ashley Hamilton and Jon Favreau. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 3, 2013.
UPDATE
: We have now received the first photos of the costume on set! We can also reveal which actor is underneath the suit which, due to the potential spoiler nature of the information, is discussed at the bottom of this page.
The armor is being worn by James Badge Dale, who plays Eric Savin in the feature film. First announced
earlier this month
, Savin becomes, in the comic books, the cyborg villain Coldbood. At this point it is unknown whether or not we'll see the actor in multiple costumes or if Coldblood and Iron Patriot are being merged into one character.

After Avengers it would make sense for the US to be somewhat pissed about S.H.I.E.L.D. screwing around on their turf and wanting to setup their own hero. Especially since S.H.I.E.L.D. has Cap.

Marvel Studios Begins Production on
Iron Man 3
by
SuperHeroHype
June 04, 2012
Marvel Studios announced this morning that principal photography has started for
Iron Man 3
with the following press release and photo. You can click on the photo for a bigger version!
Following in the footsteps of the record-breaking Marvel Studios’ release “Marvel’s The Avengers,” production on the highly anticipated film “Iron Man 3,” directed by Shane Black, has commenced production in Wilmington, North Carolina. The production schedule will also include locations in Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina, Miami, Florida and China.
Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1963, “Iron Man 3” returns Robert Downey Jr. (“Iron Man,” “Marvel’s The Avengers”) as the iconic Super Hero character Tony Stark/Iron Man along with Gwyneth Paltrow (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2,”) as Pepper Potts, Don Cheadle (“Iron Man 2”) as James “Rhodey” Rhodes and Jon Favreau (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2”) as Happy Hogan. Set for release in the U.S. on May 3, 2013, Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” marks the second feature to be fully owned, marketed and distributed by Disney, which acquired Marvel in 2009.
“Iron Man 3” continues the epic, big-screen adventures of the world’s favorite billionaire inventor/Super Hero, Tony Stark aka “Iron Man.” Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Charles Newirth, Victoria Alonso, Stephen Broussard and Dan Mintz.
The creative production team on the film includes two-time Oscar®-winning director of photography John Toll, ASC (“Braveheart,” “Legends of the Fall”), production designer Bill Brzeski (“The Hangover,” “Due Date”), editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “Captain America: The First Avenger”) and Peter S. Elliot (“Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer”), and costume designer Louise Frogley (“Quantum of Solace,” “Contagion”).
Marvel Studios most recently produced the critically acclaimed “Marvel’s The Avengers,” which set the all-time, domestic 3-day weekend box office record at $207.4 million. The film, which is currently in release, continues to shatter box office records and is The Walt Disney Studios’ highest-grossing global and domestic release of all time and marks the studios’ fifth film to gross more than $1 billion worldwide.
In the summer of 2011, Marvel successfully launched two new franchises with “Thor,” starring Chris Hemsworth, and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” starring Chris Evans. Both films opened #1 at the box office and have grossed over $800 million worldwide combined. In 2010 “Iron Man 2,” starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson and Mickey Rourke, took the #1 spot in its first weekend with a domestic box office gross of $128.1 million.
In the summer of 2008, Marvel produced the summer blockbuster movies “Iron Man” and “The Incredible Hulk.” “Iron Man,” in which Robert Downey Jr. originally dons the Super Hero’s powerful armor and stars alongside co-stars Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges and Gwyneth Paltrow, was released May 2, 2008, and was an immediate box office success. Garnering the number one position for two weeks in a row, the film brought in over $100 million in its opening weekend. On June 13, 2008, Marvel released “The Incredible Hulk,” marking its second number one opener of that summer.

I'm not really one to give a toss about what a security guard on the set reported or a leaked blurry pic a TMZ informant gave up, I'll see the movie or I won't.....but that shot of the seven suits of armour is pretty cool.

Check out Tony Stark's New Car in
Iron Man 3
by
SuperHeroHype
June 05, 2012
In addition to the awesome line up of Iron Man
hardware
that Tony will have in his latest flick
Iron Man 3
, it turns out he will be getting an automobile upgrade to go along with it.
Latino Review
is reporting that Tony's new car will be a 2014 Bugatti Veryron Hyper Sport, a car with a price tag just over $2 million. While the below picture isn't the exact car they'll be using for Tony, it is the same model of car.
The new model will also feature an all-new body said to be inspired by the original Bugatti Veyron concept of 1999. This concept was designed by the current head of Bugatti design, Walter de Silva – former SEAT head of design. The new car will have a top speed of 434km/h… in case the first edition wasn’t fast enough with its 408km/h top speed. The engine will be based on the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport’s 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16 motor, showcasing around 895kW of power and 1500Nm of torque.
Sounds like Tony Stark's kind of car doesn't it?

"There Is NO Iron Patriot In IRON MAN 3!!
Published at: Jun 08, 2012 11:36:46 PM CDT
The Kidd here...
So it doesn't look like Iron Patriot is going to be a part of IRON MAN 3 after all.
After speculation ran rampant over the character's involvement following set pics of armor that looked exactly like that of Iron Patriot, Latino Review reports that no such appearance is in the works, and that the character we saw on-set was none other than War Machine with a star-spangled paint job.
Clearly the confusion arose by someone who wasn't Don Cheadle wearing the armor, but then again, it turns out it wasn't James Badge Dale either. It was simply a stunt man giving those two actors some time off.
"The U.S. Government has had their hands on this Stark suit for awhile, and apparently they’ve decided to make it more patriotic" is the explanation for the shift in color scheme, so now you know, while it may look like Iron Patriot, it's simply more War Machine in the next IRON MAN sequel.

Comic-Con:
Iron Man 3
Concept Art Revealed!
by
SuperHeroHype
July 03, 2012
With
Iron Man 3
heavily into production, Marvel Studios has revealed this really cool piece of concept art! Since we know that the newest flick will be based around Warren Ellis' "Iron Man: Extremis" storyline in some part wherein Tony had the suit bonded to him through the use of nanotechnology, is that what we're seeing here? Is this just a tease at him getting the armor ready or is it malfunctioning? Guess we'll have to wait and see.
Fans attending this year's San Diego Comic-Con will be glad to know you'll be able to get this as a poster for free!
Iron Man 3
hits theaters May 3, 2013.
