Russell's a good choice. For some reason, I keep thinking Ed Harris.

It's hard to not imagine him as Wolverine, but Hugh Jackman could work too, as he kind of looks like a younger Clint Eastwood.

Everybody else had great choices, too.  I could picture any of those guys.  Viggo Mortensen from Lord of the Rings/A History of Violence has potential.

Jim Steranko based his take on Fury's likeness on himself. He just put an eye patch on and would look in the mirror and draw that. When he took over the book was when you went from the 5 days beard faced mailbox head Kirby drew him with to the suave cat he's been in the best depictions since. And that lounge where Fury seduced the Contessa without saying a word, as she sat on the leopard skin while his holster hung over the chair, and Eddie Lockjaw Davis played on the hi-fi? That was Steranko's actual apartment, he just drew it like it was.

So Jim Steranko.

Could definitely deal with Ed Harris or Victory.  The guy who would really be Classic Nick to me would be John McGinley.  He has the right look to me.  Put on an eye patch and some grey around the temples and he would be pretty close in my opinion.

Sam Jackson. This isn't the ultimates, and it ain't the 616. There is no such thing as a marvel movie that takes place in the 616.
