Yeah, but it's really alienating to know there are people that close around you that don't respect you. . .especially when it's still easy to get fired for being gay. . .and at such a sad time.
Sorta back on topic, it REALLY helps to see positive gay stuff happening in the main stream like both major comics publishers having positive gay influence in the same month.
I would tend to agree urb except for the fact that it's a media stunt.

Thanks. It's called sarcasm.
I knew that. But an MMA fighter makes more sense than a boxer for today's time. I wouldn't care if he was black. Anderson Silva could totally be a super hero. As for a ex-con Muslim married to a white girl? You're sarcasm got kind of uncomfortable for me there so I just decided to be contradictory for the fun of it.
If they are going to throw away Lois and Clark,Barry and Iris, Wally West, The entire Golden Age, Hal going bonkers, Bruce's "death" (which just happened like, yesterday comics time), and the rest of the 70 years of history
WHO FUCKING CARES
if they take this chance to try and inject a bit of diversity into their comics? It's not going to make anything any better or worse.

They ARE going about it the wrong way (with press releases and whatnot), but I can let it slide with Northstar, mostly because the character DESERVES a moment in the sun, after all the BS he's endured.
Could they have hyped it less and let it happen organically? Probably, but it is clear that this was in the planning for a while, as the lead up happened MONTHS ago.
I am lukewarm about Alan, mostly because I love both Todd and Jenny.

Alan Scott had the best costume ever.
Particularly with the black cape.
If they re-do ALL the characters in this universe, I'm okay with it.
...I wonder how the public would react if Marvel started publishing a line in another universe where Northstar is straight? Would we be told to get over it?

I was so pissed that I drove to town today and went to my local comic shop. When I walked in the two guys who worked there that I've known forever were smiling at me. Not being new comic day and me having already picked up my weekly stack, I got "Oh we're pretty sure we know why YOU'RE here today!". And yes, I had Earth 2 taken off my pull list. I will no longer support a book that's telling me that Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern and founding member of the Justice Society Of America, a character who I have idolized since I was a kid 30 years ago...is a gay man. Too many offending things about this title already and this is the straw that broke the camel's back with a sickening thudder.
Fuck THAT noise.
While there I ordered a $77.00 set of Direwolf bookends for my A Game Of Thrones hardcover books and a $300.00 Iron Throne statue. Good job DC. I'll spend my disposable income ELSEWHERE while you try to nickel and dime college kids getting by on ramen noodles in your hopeless quest to attract younger readers by pounding your existing customer base in the ass with a giant green rubber fist.

Well, your comic shop may not get my money but I'll make sure to buy at least one copy of this issue and several of the follow ups to offset your vote against gays on this new earth

let's us settle this part once and for all this isn't the Alan Scott you have read all these years, this isn't the earth 2 you've read all these years, and this sure isn't the dc universe you've read for all these years. this is the all new Nu....so no one destroyed YOUR Alan Scott....he still exist in all those books you read.

I'm so confused as to why this is a bigger deal than de-aging him a few decades, wiping his kids out of existence, destroying his significance in the history of the DCU, and being relegated to fake earth which is what we knew from the beginning.
But him liking dick is the thing that people are worked up about? Whatever.

It's Earth-2. IMO it has just as much bearing as making Spider-Man a minority in the Ultimate World or whatever world they have him in. It doesn't mean jack.
Exactly.

Naw. Ted Grant will be an African American former convict who turned his life around as a UFC style fighter. He'll be a practicing Muslim who converted in prison. And he'll be married to a white woman.
This is the Quote of the Year here.
Hilarious stuff! But ya know, in the New 52 Universe it's entirely possible.

everybody seems to be missing the obvious here. kyle raynor was gay as FUCK since day one. he has a "nick from family ties" blowout haircut for god's sake. how the fuck do you throw the fucking gayness dart and have it land on alan? that's like making a buddy cop flick with richard simmons as the straight one and jason statham as the pillow-biter.
(when the fuck did alan have a black cape?)

Jeezus, you think that looks like Kyle?
You need to slow down on the Methylated Spirits, old chap.
There's a reason they don't sell it straight from the fridge.
And is his right tit just a bad photoshop or is he the poster boy for Rob Liefeld's Captain America?
Also, what the fuck is a Family Ties and what the fuck is a Tina Yothers?
The Nineties only had room for three Yank T.V exports this side of the pond.
Three dorks and three hot chicks who aged way to quickly.
Alien loving Geek and sexy redhead who are supposed to find U.F.O's and shit, but the whole thing is actually about will they fuck.
And.
Acid trip everyone pretends to like and totally understand, but is actually a complete pile of bollocks that
looks really cool
though, and makes you sound intellectual when you discuss it the next day.
Also, what the fuck is Courtney Love...no seriously,
what the fuck is she
?
Other than the woman who ate Kurt Cobain's genitalia and will to live on toast that is.
