Are You a Fan of The Walking Dead? Then This Magazine Is For You!

by ShockTillYouDrop

June 28, 2012

Titan Magazines and Skybound are pleased to announce the launch of The Walking Dead, The Official Magazine, based on Robert Kirkman's Eisner Award-winning comic book series, best-selling graphic novels and Emmy-winning AMC television series based upon them.

Following its transition from groundbreaking comic book to the highest-rated basic cable drama of all time, The Walking Dead has cemented its status, not only as a phenomenon with the wildly diverging fans of horror and of character-driven drama, but as a milestone in quality, mainstream television.

Robert Kirkman, creator/writer of The Walking Dead, debuted the groundbreaking Skybound/Image comic in 2003. In 2010, AMC debuted the hit television series, The Walking Dead, based upon the comic series. The television series became the highest-rated original basic cable drama of all time and an international success in 120 countries and 250 million homes, and counting. In 2011, The Walking Dead graphic novels were the best-selling graphic novels of the year. Now, in 2012, Titan Publishing/Skybound and AMC bring you The Walking Dead, The Official Magazine to answer the burning questions insatiable zombie-loving fans have about the Emmy-winning television show, comics and graphic novels.

The Walking Dead, The Official Magazine will feature an inside look at the comic and show as only a fully sanctioned quarterly can. No one will get more exclusives than this magazine. Get exclusive access to the most successful television adaptation of a comic ever, including in-depth interviews Kirkman, Executive Producer/Writer on the show; Glen Mazzara, Showrunner/ Executive Producer/Writer of the series and David Alpert, Executive Producer of the series. That's not all, readers will hear from all of the leads on the hit TV show beginning with Andrew Lincoln, who stars as Rick Grimes; Sarah Wayne Callies, who stars as Lori Grimes, and Jon Bernthal, who played fan-favorite bad boy Shane.

To get behind-the-scenes on the set with co-Executive Producer Greg Nicotero and see how he creates the greatest on-screen zombies ever, fans should read The Walking Dead, The Official Magazine. The only way into the closed door writers’ room to learn about the scripting process lies within the magazine’s pages. Fans will also get the opportunity toask Kirkman what's coming up in future issues of The Walking Dead, or find out how the series artist Charlie Adlard keeps up with the fast pace of the monthly comic so brilliantly.

The Walking Dead, The Official Magazine debuts on October 23rd with 100 pages of all access, no holds barred zombie festing and feasting. With all the latest news, revelations and tips for fans of the television show and the graphic novels. Get it, read it or be the last to know all the exclusive scoops for every incarnation of The Walking Dead.

From IGN:

Watch this New Expendables 2 Clip

Sly and company are packing heat… well, kind of.

by Scott Collura

June 29, 2012

Technically speaking, Sylvester Stallone isn't really carrying a weapon in this new clip from this summer's The Expendables 2. And yet, he's still able to get the job done… with a little help from his friends. Just like Ringo always said!

I heard something strange today, and it really is one of those "I heard ..." things.

"I heard this is the last year for one-day passes at Comic Con. From now on, weekend passes only."

Makes some sense. Quite a few folks got Thursday and Sunday or something like that. At least this way if you get tickets and coming from out of town you'll get two days in a row.

2:30-5:00 Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures Preview Their Upcoming Lineups—

Legendary Pictures: Pacific Rim-From acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro comes Warner Bros. Pictures' and Legendary Pictures' epic sci-fi action adventure Pacific Rim. When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes -- a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) -- who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse. Pacific Rim also stars Idris Elba, Ron Perlman, and Charlie Day.

Warner Bros. Pictures: Man Of Steel

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey-From Academy Award-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson comes The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, a production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). Jackson returns to Middle-earth in an adventure that begins 60 years before the events depicted in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The first of two films adapted from J.R.R. Tolkien's enduringly popular masterpiece, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey follows titular Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), who-along with the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and a band of 13 Dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage)-is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. The film's ensemble cast includes Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lily, and Andy Serkis as Gollum. Hall H

5:15-5:45 Trailer Park II— Once more with feeling! See the latest in trailers from your upcoming soon-to-be-favorite films, including some in 3D (glasses provided, but please give them back as you exit the hall). Hall H

7:15-9:15 Comi-Kev: Q&A with Kevin Smith— For like the millionth year in a row, Saturday at Comic-Con's not over 'til the fat lady sings...and that fat lady is @ThatKevinSmith! Taking the the Hall H stage like he takes the desserts off your lunch tray, the guy in the hockey jersey will A all of your Qs! Query about Comic Book Men, Spoilers, SModcast.com, his book Tough Sh*t, Jay & Silent Bob's Super Groovy Cartoon Movie, his Fat Man on Batman podcast, or just ask him about stuff he's got nothing to do with! But get ready to listen because this fatty is chatty! Warning: Kevin Smith throws around adult language like it's clever. It's not, but he loves it. A lot. Hall H

8:00-11:00 Hall H and Ballroom 20 Saturday Panel Playback— Didn't get into either Hall H or Ballroom 20 today? We feel your pain! In this three-hour block, Comic-Con will rebroadcast some of the day's popular panels from those two giant rooms. Best of all, those in attendance will get to vote on what they want to see. It's democracy at its finest AND it's a second chance to see these panels. (Please note: these playbacks will include only the panel discussions. None of the film clips or footage shown at the live events will be shown here.) Room 25ABC

Here's the thing about Hall H: It's all day or nothing.  Once you get in, you can't leave because you'll never get back in.  The room is capped at 6000 attendees (Thank goodness they have restrooms and serve snacks in there)  and there's always a line.  Someone else will take your spot the moment you leave.

If I'm in there all day, I give up the rest of the con for that day.  No pictures, no news, no reports.

But ... it's Django Unchained, Pacific Rim, Man of Steel, The Hobbit and Iron Man 3. Five movies I'm really looking forward to.  And I'm sure Marvel Studios will spill the beans on other upcoming Marvel movies.

What to do, what to do ...

You could meet me for dinner after and tell me all about it Grin

Makes some sense. Quite a few folks got Thursday and Sunday or something like that. At least this way if you get tickets and coming from out of town you'll get two days in a row.

Yup, but they'll have to buy all 4.5 days. Those willing to do so will find it easier to make their plans even if they don't stay the whole time so that's good. I'm not sure about any other benefits other than making ticket sales manageable. It isn't going to alleviate crowding since the show will continue to sell out as long as being a "geek" is fashionable. It'll keep one-day lookie-loos out but someone else will just take their place for the entire weekend. I'll still hopefully be getting a full weekend pass but will likely not go every day. We'll see how I feel about it this year.

Getting close.  I know getting excited just leads to a bigger letdown, but I can't help it.  Hope springs eternal.  Smiley

The movie panels sound great Mike, but it also sounds like a pretty big tradeoff.

Yeah.  Now that I've had a chance to think about it, I'd be missing too much by spending all day in Hall H.

I'll do this instead:

8:00-11:00 Hall H and Ballroom 20 Saturday Panel Playback— Didn't get into either Hall H or Ballroom 20 today? We feel your pain! In this three-hour block, Comic-Con will rebroadcast some of the day's popular panels from those two giant rooms. Best of all, those in attendance will get to vote on what they want to see. I know people will want to see Iron Man 3, the Hobbit and Man of Steel.  Those are the three I'm most interested in, too.
