Moretz: Carrie Remake Has a Black Swan Quality To It

by ShockTillYouDrop

June 15, 2012

Chloe Moretz spoke to Vanity Fair about her upcoming turn in Carrie, a remake being directed by Kimberly Peirce.

“I am changing everything about me - my hair, my look,” the actress told the magazine. “I’m doing my own take on [the character]. The script is totally different from the [original]. It’s more like the book. It’s a more Black Swan version - it messes with your mind. You’ll see things, and you don’t know if you’ve seen them.”

Moretz stars in the redo of the Stephen King novel alongside Julianne Moore, Gabriella Wilde, Alex Russell, Ansel Elgort, Portia Doubleday and Judy Greer.

Disney Gearing Up for Marvel Attractions at Disneyland

by SuperHeroHype

June 15, 2012

It's not that often that we get to talk about something like a theme park here at SuperHeroHype, but now we actually have some exciting news about it that is relevant.

In an interview with Reuters, Chairman of Disney's Parks and Resorts division Tom Saggs had this to offer: "We were hard at work on attractions using Marvel characters previously, and that work has only intensified given (the film's) great success. The setting has to be right, the story has to be right. That takes a fair amount of time."

He also said they'd like to expand the use of Marvel characters into the resorts of the parks as well as Disney's other attractions around the globe.

They're currently prohibited from doing anything with the characters at their Orlando parks though due to a licensing agreement with Universal Studios.

Noah Oppenheim Heads to Nineteen Eighty-Four

Source: Deadline, ComingSoon

June 16, 2012

Imagine Entertainment has set screenwriter Noah Oppenheim to adapt their big screen remake of George Orwell's dystopian sci-fi classic Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Released in 1948, the novel tells of a future world called Oceania wherein individuality and privacy are outlawed and citizens live in service to an all-seeing entity called "Big Brother."

Imagine teamed with street artist Shepard Fairey (best known for the now-iconic Barack Obama "Hope" campaign poster) and Fairey will serve as producer bringing the novel back to the screen.

Nineteen Eighty-Four was previously made into a film, directed by Michael Radford in the year 1984 with John Hurt starring as the lead, Winston Smith.

Oppenheim, a relative screenwriting newcomer, has also been working on the upcoming remakes of WarGames and Snabba Cash.

WB Announces Free-to-Play Batman Game The Fire Rises

by SuperHeroHype

June 15, 2012

WB has just announced a new free-to-play browser based real time strategy game set within Gotham City called "The Fire Rises." Wikia.com had the details and as you can see, it sounds like it could be a lot of fun.

Setting the stage for the much anticipated The Dark Knight Rises, Warner Brothers is drumming up excitement with this game tie-in that lets players rob Gotham City blind during Bane’s powerful uprising.

The Fire Rises casts players as henchmen, out to get their own piece of Gotham’s pie. With lackeys of their own, players secure territory, spawn various crew members to take out a relentless stream of deadly security officers, and loot valuable gear from nearby buildings, all before Gotham PD shows up in full force and puts an end to your crime spree.

WB takes a surprisingly core-gamer approach to the browser game. Maximizing your looting sprees takes not just a good strategy, but a quick mind. Various crew members, from loot-happy Thugs to demolition-packing Saboteurs, offer different benefits and drawbacks.

To pull off big heists, you will have to mix-and-match your squads, spawn them from sewer covers quickly and efficiently, and arrange them around the battlefield in just the right way to buy your looters valuable time. Steal enough goods and you will unlock more crew members, including Catwoman herself.

Your success also grows your criminal headquarters located under Gotham. You’ll be able to compete with your friends via Facebook to see who has more influence over the beautifully rendered city. You’ll also be able to see your friends’ headquarters and flaunt your looting prowess. The game currently features three levels, with more to come when The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th.

The free game is set to be released June 19th.

Create Your Own Dark Knight Rises TV Spot and Tumbler

by SuperHeroHype

June 15, 2012

It looks like WB has finally gotten a message from all these fan-made posters of their newest Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. They're now co-sponsoring a contest with Chrysler entitled "Imported from Gotham" that is all about use-created content.

Warner Bros. Pictures and the Chrysler brand have teamed up to bring fans the opportunity of a lifetime surrounding the July 20th release of "The Dark Knight Rises," the much-anticipated conclusion to the blockbuster Dark Knight trilogy. Today marks the launch of the "Imported from Gotham City" contest, allowing fans to create an original co-branded TV spot featuring these two iconic brands. Director/writer/producer Christopher Nolan will select the winning spot, which will debut on television around the release of the film.

Contestants will have two weeks to create their "Imported from Gotham City" original commercial utilizing a suite of assets, including Chrysler 300 car footage, film footage and music stems from the trailer that contestants can remix for their spot.

The top three finalists will be announced online and Christopher Nolan will personally choose the winner.

"We're excited for the opportunity to tap into the creative community online and allow those who participate to showcase their talent and passion. We look forward to seeing what unique spots people produce," says Nolan.

The winner will receive a trip to Hollywood to finish their spot alongside a professional editor before traveling to New York City to attend the red carpet premiere screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" on Monday, July 16.

You can start work on yours here.

Not only can you create your own TV spot, Wired has also revealed a Tumbler Designer that allows users to customize and drive their own Batmobile.

Colin Farrell Joining Hanks and Thompson in Saving Mr. Banks

Source: ComingSoon, The Hollywood Reporter

June 15, 2012

Total Recall star Colin Farrell is in negotiations to join Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson in the John Lee Hancock-directed Saving Mr. Banks.

The movie focuses on P.L. Travers (Thompson), the woman who wrote the "Mary Poppins" books beginning in 1934 and her fierce apprehension (and later regret) about bringing the character to the screen.

The script is said to shift back and forth between 1961 and 1907 and covers Travers' childhood in rural Queensland and her experience negotiating with Walt Disney (Hanks) and his team for the film. Farrell will play her father, the inspiration for the Mr. Banks character.

Disney is looking to start filming this fall in Los Angeles.
