so the stactions are the new compatible line they've been talking about?  also is it 8 inches on the base or is death herself 8 inches?  didn't really clear much up.

Doesn't sound like the stactions are the compatible line.  Not sure on Death's scale.  Don't care much either 'cause I ain't buying no fucking stactions. mad

I wanted a Granny Goodness figure--that is just about the only place where a bigger tooling budget would have been available.  Out of the last 4 years this is absolutely the worst in terms of exclusives with the Wonder Twins and Plastic Man for me being the high watermarks and for MOTUC with Prince Adam and Orko.

With this lacklustre offerings I expect we probably won't see any retail offerings besides at that time the upcoming All stars wave 1 production figures.  The only thing to look forward to toywise will be the rest of 2012 and the first part of 2013 CIE subs.

And that Vykron is L-A-M-E--when TG said the price would be higher because of more parts I was really hoping given the 30th anniversary we'd get Modulok.

Vykron looks OK as the barbarian.  The other two outfits are awful.  Where's Mr. Blackwell when you need him?

It kind of is Marvel's year since I personally think Avengers will smoke Batman like a Virginia ham.

I hope Avengers CRUSHES Batman. Not because I don't want Batman to do well but because I want WB to see what they could have had if they had built the movie universe with licenses they OWN instead of letting competition trump them.

Wow, they literally killed teh lien with Death.

Quote of the thread!

I was thinking that perhaps the "statue" was cheaper to make but c'mon. It's all new tooling for everything they do but we can't get six inch figures without every cheap bull shit re-use ever?

So Green Lantern sits and gets tons of money.

Young Justice sits and gets tons of money.

But DCUC which moves? Fuck that?

Now this though?

Bah. I don't know what the money is form the accountants POV but it seems weird. It's like they are looking for something new to be excited about instead of working with what has been a success.

Someone pointed out that it's likely a grab to make more big gun characters and I am guessing thats true. They probably need a new way to sell Super-Bats. Just like DCD did only instead of Artist specific versions we get mego style, DCUC style, Young Justice style, PE style, and now this.

Whatever. I am not interested in the exclusives but I am not surprised we were left out this year. "DCUC" by any other name is in chaos. My eggs are in the 2013 basket. This year is a bust save for a few gems in the sub.

I like the Tiny Titans figurines, but sadly, I can't justify paying that much for a set of toys that could have just as easily come out of a gumball machine. The Death quasi-statue is fine for what it is, but I don't collect statues, so meh. That MotUC exclusive is goofy, but so is MotU, so I'll get one of those.

Anyway, disappointing showing, but not altogether unexpected. Hopefully they'll show us something cool in the display cases.

Weren't they waiting to announce all at once?  Do you think they just haven't got the DCUC stuff ready yet and will announce later before SDCC?

No, the Hot Wheels and Monster High figures were the hold up.  Toy Guru has no control over those lines and they still weren't ready as of Friday so they just posted a listing with no pictures

I think you guys will get a kick out of this.  These two pics were taken at last years SDCC in the booth where Mattel sells their exclusives.  It was early in the afternoon on the second day of the show.

No line.  No one buying anything.  Crickets chirping.  Mattel employees trying to stay awake.

Mattel says they understand collectors and know what collectors want.

Do they?
