It's another high end sixth scale night tonight, with a little from Hot Toys and a little from Enterbay. I'm checking out the latest Predators release from HT - Noland! He's one of those under appreciated figures that can really shine given a chance.

And Jeff Parker is checking out the Enterbay Che Guevara. You can find all the reviews at the usual:

Thanks for reading and have a terrific weekend!

Hot Toys is proud to present the collectible figure of another superhero from the Marvel Studios - the 1/6th scale Thor Limited Edition Collectible Figurine from the upcoming The Avengers movie. The movie-accurate collectible is specially crafted based on the image of Chris Hemsworth as Thor in the movie, highlighting the newly developed head sculpt, muscular body, highly detailed costume, accessories and weapon. The Thor collectible stands approximately 32 cm tall, which is closer to the 1/6th scale of the movie character.

Is it just me or does that Thor look more like young(er) Leonardo DiCaprio than Hemsworth?

Am I the only person here who thinks these aren't actually worth the money? Embarrassed

I got my Nicholson Joker the other day and while it's a stunning piece, I'm not entirely sure it's £200's worth of stunning.

I know the Batman stuff was way more expensive than most other HT figures for some reason (license?), but still.

Supremely greatful to Sideshow for fucking up my Reeves Superman order, to be honest.

Much as I'd like a Batman and the inevitable Returns stuff to go with him, I just can't see myself doing it.

Not looking to argue here, just wondering if anybody who's ever bought any of these has ever thought this?

I only have the Keaton Batman so far, but I'll make my last payment on Joker on Thursday. I'm still planning on snaggin the Supes to go with him and any Returns stuff, but I agree with you - they don't really seem to be worth $200+.

My Keaton Batman is gorgeous, I'm glad I bought it, and I still want the others, but comparatively, I'd rather spend the money on ten MOTUC figures or a crapload of Glyos.

I want these, so I'm paying for them, but I'm not sure what makes them worth that price to most folks.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I love that Joker..

But, once you get past the head sculpt, you get what, a 13 inch plastic doll with a suit of clothes and some accessories?

That's why I'm glad I didn't get Supes.
It's a doll with a fantastic headsculpt and a lycra bodysuit.

At least the '89 stuff had a shit load of accessories (though I'm gutted they didn't give Joker two clasped hands (left and right) to properly hold stuff).

They are superbly done, I'm in no way debating that, and I know the quality of what you get is top notch.

Just seems that it's a hell of a lot for what it is.

As I said though, not looking for trouble, just wondering if I was the only one thinking this as a first time HT purchaser.

And fuck, if I know that the Penguin is gonna sucker me back in, even as I debate the Returns Batman and try to forget that Catwoman exists. Grin

(and God help me if they get the Forever license too). laugh

Interview of Howard Chan by Mark for One Sixth Republic :

Q: For this year's 2012 Ani-Com, SDCC, and other toy fairs, will you be releasing any exclusive items fans should look out for?

A. Yes, we will have exclusive figures again this year for Ani-Com 2012. Not sure how to buy them yet but most likely will do it online and there shall be no queuing.
For overseas collectors, we are still planning.

Q: Any update on the new Bruce Lee figure of Arnie Kim? Is it still ongoing?

A:. Currently we will not produce any Bruce Lee figure because of the license, although there is already a current prototype head sculpt made by Arnie Kim. But who knows, license rights are not permanent, maybe one day, HT will do Bruce Lee again.

Q: Do you have any plans on making "Back to the Future" figures?

A. Exclusive news for OSR: Yes, we have acquired the license of the Back to the Future and also got the approval of Michael J. Fox. We will also make the DeLorean vehicle. More announcements will be coming soon.

Q: Last year's 2011 Ani-Com, I saw a picture released of Joker 2.0, any words on Joker 2.0 you can share to the fans?

A. It is ready and soon to be released. Further announcement is coming soon.

Q: I saw Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal figure on your workplace, will it also be released?

A: Yes.

Q: Why the delay on the 1/6 Scale Light-Up Function Vehicle: Tron: Legacy - Light Cycle & Sam Flynn?

A: There is a complication on the electricity of the cycle. We are working hard on it and it will be ready soon.

Q: Fans are also very excited to see the final prototype of DC franchise (Green Lantern & Batman Returns) and Marvel franchise (X-Men First Class & The Amazing Spiderman), any updates on these figures?

A: Green Lantern - Confirmed that this will be cancelled. The reason is that it is too hard to do the lighting on the figure’s body as in the movie today. The project is now on hold, license is still there but on hold.

Batman Returns - Yes hopefully, the Batman and Penguin figure will be announced this year around December.

X-Men First Class – Project is still in progress and will come up soon. The first figure will be Professor X.The Amazing Spiderman - We have got the license and will be in the plan also. We have many Marvel figures line-up for this year.

Q. Since you have a lot of Marvel figures line-up this year, do you also have DC figures coming soon?

A: Yes, in fact we have acquired the license of the new Superman movie which will be coming soon.

Q: Some fans are disappointed about the Reissuing of previously done figures. Any comments about that?

A: Because there are new design and better technology improvement these days, and we would like to provide the best to fans, so that it is better to have a newer version with better head sculpt and design.

Q: Any message you want to share for your fans around the world?

A: We are not only a company which works for money but rather, we try our best on giving good figures for everybody. Some people may think we are lazy because of delays of releasing some figures but we are not, we always want to keep the quality and we prioritize on making excellent products.

Not at the price you're paying. I'd probably all but quit collecting if that was the average price.

In terms of "bang for your buck", you picked one of their worst to be your first figure. I realize, being situated where you are, you probably don't have a lot of options when it comes to places to purchase from, but going with Sideshow is a big mistake for collectors outside of the US (I speak from experience).

I purchased my Joker from a local shop and paid almost $100USD less than what you paid. There's no denying that's still a hefty price to pay, especially when I recall paying only $150 for the DX Ledger Joker and that was basically two complete figures once you bought a second TrueType body (around $30, at the time).

The upcoming Luke Skywalker is a pretty good deal (relatively speaking). It's two complete figures and a light-up base for around $20 more than the Nicholson Joker.

I've been collecting Hot Toys since around the time the Movie Masterpiece line started and while the prices have certainly gone up, the value of the US dollar has gone down. Way down. In terms of what I actually pay in Canadian currency, there's not really that much difference between now and 9 to 10 years ago. On average, I'd say I'm paying maybe 20%-25% more now, than I was then. That's for basic figures like Hawkeye and Nick Fury, mind you. DXs are another story and didn't exist back then.

It should also be said that the quality of the typical Hot Toys figure has improved by leaps and bounds over the last decade. I'm certainly not seeing the same kind of improvements in other toy lines, but I am seeing price increases that are far greater (I'm looking at you, Mattel).
