Hey guys hope everything is good over there in Rockstar. Just a question referring to GTA 4, the game was brilliant and I really enjoyed and still do, but what disappointed me was the lack of planes and jets... Can you tell me why you didn't include them, I'm sure you have a very valid reason? via Mouthoff
The city was simply too small for effective and enjoyable flying. It was the first time we made a high definition open world, and it was a massive amount of work to make something on that scale we simply could not make an environment big enough for planes to work properly. Fear not, they are returning in what is our biggest open world game to date.

I would love a GTA game set in London.
They had an expansion pack for the very first one, so it barely counts, but they at least set a precedent for it. Rockstar's headquarters is there, I believe. There or Scotland? One of you guys knows, surely. I once called the hotline because I had a bug where CJ wouldn't get not fat. He was so fat he wouldn't even try to work out. I ended up talking to the guy for about an hour about how cool these games are and what time it was and what the weather was like over there, it was really fun bonding across the ocean.

Cannot stress how much I want this game.
I loved the Lost and the Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony, so I'm chuffed they've integrated three characters into the mix from the start.
Gotta track down Game Informer, the wait for news is killing me.

Spoilers:
A host of new Grand Theft Auto V details have been released.
The details are included in the December issue of Game Informer, which carries an 18-page cover feature on the game.
Below is a list of all the new details revealed in the cover feature:
GTA V "evolves nearly every mechanic, features the biggest world in series history and introduces a new technology that radically changes the way players control the game.
Three main characters are called Michael, Trevor and Frankie.
A quick menu can be called up to switch characters, the camera pulls away into a Google Earth-style vantage point and then drops into wherever the chosen character is.
Trevor is described as having a "maniacal personality"
Trevor is in Blaine County, a barren, rundown desert region filled with bikers, meth heads and other people from the fringes of society
Characters can "flick off" people and people react differently depending on the area. In a rough-and-tumble neighborhood the reaction will be different from someone in a posh boutique store
Rockstar's playtester pours a trail of gas away from a vehicle and drops a zippo lighter on it, the flame travels back and causes a huge explosion.
Franklin is seen on Vespucci Beach looking for a car he's to reposess
Waterfront activities include a muscle beach gym
Ammu-Nation is back
Each character has his own personality motivation and skillset
They go about their daily business when you're not in control, so you might find them in surprising situations when you take control of them again
Each character has a fleshed out story arc
Complicated, multitiered heist missions inspired by GTA IV's Three Leaf Clover are "peppered" into the game
Heists are a big theme
Rockstar is adressing mission diversity in pairing characters, it showed off a mission involving all three characters
The trio need to perform a snatch-and-grab to get the FIB off their bakcs
Trevor berates security agent guarding a chopper, Michael urges him to calm down but he keeps running his mouth, he only agreed to do the mission in exchange for help springing his friend Brad out of jail.
Franklin isn't to comfortable with Trevor
The three change outfits and rapell down the side of a skyscraper, when they arrive players take control of Michael rapelling down, the mechanic is reminiscent of Rainbow Six Vegas
The musical score seems to react to the action
They extract the target by holding him hostage with one arm while pointing a gun at interrogators with the other, at that point an icon appears giving the player the option to switch character
You can stay as Michael and try and pick of the enemies or select franklin, switch to his perspective and snipe them from afar.
Transition is smooth and camera angle helps you adjust
During the chase through Los Santos the player can switch to Trevor to pilot the getaway, snipe the other pilots as Franklin, or fire an assault rifle out the back of a chopper as Michael
Rockstar is leveraging cinematic tricks learned from Max Payne 3
Rockstar thinks GTA V is its strongest plotted game yet.

So the locations are Albuquerque New Mexico, Venice Beach, and what's Los Santos an analog for? Downtown L.A?

Reading the DCnU is like trying to shit a brick. It's agonizing. While I'm one of the few people around here who thought there might be some actual merit in a relaunch, the execution has been just that, an execution.

Forgive me for being pretty ignorant of L.A geography, but it goes something like this.
In the PS2 days, you had San Andreas, which was made up of truncated versions of L.A, San Fran and Las Vegas.
Between L.A and San Fran, you had Mount Chiliad (based on Mount Diablo) which was a almalgam of the two L.A mountinous regions and Bone County (based on Orange County).
This time they've focused purely on L.A itself.
So, Los Santos is their name for the entire region.
The idea is that they've taken the city itself, the mountain ranges and countryside outside of it and further out the desert regions.
Albuquerque is not in the game, but it wouldn't surprise me if they used it's influence to add some colour to the area, being as it's not designed to be totally realistic.
There may also be a little San Diego influence in there too, from what I've read.
There's also rumours Catalina Island could make it in, either as in game or DLC.
