So new issue today. We learn something of Roy's addictions, and who his sponsor is. We meet Crux and get his backstory while further adding to the point that everyone who bitched about Starfire in issue #1 was just utterly way off base. My main concern with Crux is, if he joins this team, he just seems way over-powered.

For me, the best part still is the interaction between Roy and Jason.

We also get a time frame of how long Jason served as Robin.

I think having a big monster-thing like Crux in the group is going to wreck the "hard-traveling heroes" vibe they have going on.

I still think Jericho would have been the perfect choice for a new member, as a fallen "Titan" and with his ties to Deathstroke and Rava... Rose from the supporting cast of the Superboy title.

Just wanna say that this is becoming one of my most anticipated books of the month.

This book is fun and mindless entertainment.  They seem to have rectified Starfire coming off as a sex addict with ADD, to some extent she's been playing dumb, she has a hidden agenda she's kept from Roy and Jason.

Further proof that Didio didn't have his shit together is Starfire name-checking the Wolfman-Perez Titans in an early issue obviously...but the only aspect of this book that doesn't work in the old DCU is Roy's "youthening" and sudden immaturity.  Oh, and that smelly trucker's hat.  He's not the same Red Arrow Roy that did a stint in the JLA.

But I must say, I do like the quality run-punch-jump storytelling in the book.

The lack of cohesiveness or poor initial planning still makes this book leave a bad taste in my mouth.

I like the characters, but just don't like the overall story. It feels like the writer just doesn't know where he's going with the story. I'm going to stick with it for a bit more, but I need more from this title than what I'm getting.

I'm thinking it might be the alien thing or whatever the Untitled is. I think if things started more street-leveled, I'd be into it a bit more.

The exact same thing can be said for Red Lanterns and GL: New Guardians.  Even JLI, though whether it has a storyline or is a lazy old dependable cliche is a matter of personal opinion.

I enjoy this book. I like Roy and Jason together as I've said. It's kind of like fishing through a bowl of soup I like for ingredients I love.

Eh, Red Lanterns is making a half assed attempt to go somewhere and create a mythology with that nasty blood lake.

New Guardians does feel like wheels spinning to me. It feels like Kyle's had the multicolored pimp hand for 10 issues or something.  And now Larfleeze is behind it all?  That's as fresh as the secret villain that's been tormenting Batman for a dozen issues is...THE JOKER! Roll Eyes

I'm with you on GL:New Guardians (don't read Red Lanterns). Kyle is my favorite character, but I'm thinking of dropping it. I guess the optimist in me hopes that it'll find its footing soon, so I stick with it a bit longer than other titles. But the title is in the same boat as Red Hood & The Outlaws. Have the same feeling for both titles.

Give it til the end of the arc [issue 7]. I'll admit the timing of Crux's flashback origin arc could've been better after an issue of memories before that but next issue is Roy vs. Crux, the banter should be good.

BLOODY HELL! Outlaws #5 is fucking fantastic. Lobdell totally claims Jason as his own, moving him from vigilante to warrior.

Agreed. And next month promises the story behind the team coming together.

If there hasn't been a threesome with Roy, Jason and Kory -- then I just don't get the point of this series.
