Heh.

I think my brother knew the sculptor for TOTAL JUSTICE.  I vaguely recall someone thinking that they had done a good job and someone else recalling the sculpting looked like flayed anatomy.

To be fair, they did a perfect job.

This was the nineties remember...nowaday's we call it artist specific. Wink

Very, very well written article that I think every single one of us can relate to.

Jesus... I bought a fucking shitload of MARVEL figures in the 90s.  But I would have bought just as much DC stuff if it had actually existed.

DC is almost completely dead in the toys aisles here in Oz. I went into my local Target and they had 3 figures in that weird quasi-anime Batman line and that's it. Even the Green Lantern stuff on clearance is finally gone.

Hasbro on the other hand. Stuff everywhere.

Ditto.
There's a bit of Brave and the Bold stuff left (mostly the overpriced sets with stupid vehicles or add-on's).

Obsidian had an unrequited thing for Nuklon who had an unrequited thing for Icemaiden who had an unrequited thing for Fire...who had an unrequited thing for Ice before she died.

Yeah, seriously. Roll Eyes

I... definitely stopped reading before all this happened.

I always used to hear kids in the action figure aisle talk about how bad the figures looked, but the one that stood out was "The Flash looks constipated".

I always said about Gerard Jones that he starts out strong on a book, and fizzles out fast.

I was reading all of the JLA books through the entire Gerard Jones run. Because he tied things into his GL run, it became something I felt obligated to get. When Powergirl and Hal fucked in that bubble and she became pregnant with his kid, only to write it out later on by sending a magically aged son to another dimension just highlighted that these books were the drizzling shits. I was glad the JMD/Giffen run was over, and kept holding onto hope that things would get better.

As it turned out, they didn't. Even Morrison's run was WAY the fuck overrated with Porter's horrible art and women who looked like trannies. And the scenes never flowed well from scene to scene and felt choppy. The comic was like a poorly edited movie.

Anyway, it was during these years that my love for the JSA was cemented and they became my all time favorite super hero team. I realized the JLA would ALWAYS be plagued by shitty writing, shitty art, and being a slave to whatever was going on in the members individual books. Or the latest crossover. 20 years later, nothing has changed to alter my opinion of the JLA as a comic book.

And to keep this comic related I wouldn't even consider buying a line of retro Total Justice figures. They sucked the first time and I regret buying them at all.

Porter's art really does that run no favours. And then we got Waid's bland-out with beautiful Hitch art. I wish Morrison's stuff had that art. Cry

I wouldn't want the extreme poses, but those line-ups on DCUC bucks would make me a very happy man.

I'd love to get those lineups as well. I think a lot of people would to be honest. I agree with someone else who said it already, I can't believe a lot of those figures weren't made thru the various waves we had.

Lots of great, straightforward answers that make sense there from Toy Guru. Matty Justice League is seeming a bit dismissive, but really only on the attack posts Smiley
