Ah, Brienne. One of my faves. The Renly/Margaery scene was...sorta uncomfortable.

Good stuff from Tyrion and Varys again. Sad to see Yoren get taken out, but he was fun to watch.

Things are definitely about to kick into gear. Joffrey is a sick little fuck, ain't he?

I think I was pretty close to having my wife sign off on this show with tonight's episode. She has a hard time with all the sex and violence and whatnot anyway but got sucked in despite it but that scene with Jeoffrey and the prostitutes... I think she may keep watching just in hopes of seeing him get what he has coming to him.

/straps the rat bucket on
There are some real 'I cannot wait to see how they pull that off' moments coming in this season.

Just finished season one the other day. Gonna be a long wait for S2 dvds. Still anxiously awaiting the 5th book in paperback too. I know the show is gonna be a hellacious ride thru book 4.

So far we have a 'it's art and you just don't understand it' nonpology from Hags and a post from Pieface Ron comparing Mike and CM to a dog that shit on the rug.
Think our official stance should be 'hell with those guys'.

How would you guys break the books down for seasons (with no spoilers)? Book one seemed to make a tidy season one from what I have heard but my brother has read them all and said there is no way at least one of the books could or should be crammed into one season.
I'm still on the fence about reading ahead. I love enjoying the show for the story and don't want to analyze how it stacked up against the book as much as just continuing to be surprised, shocked, appalled, and excited by what is happening on my TV.

Even having read the books, it didn't diminish my enjoyment of the show, ymmv. I'd been telling everyone I know who reads fantasy how great this series is for years. So actually seeing events from the book happen in live action is just icing on the cake. And there's so much shit happening they could easily stretch the seasons out. Just you wait....

Season one and season two seem like they will play along with the first two books. Season three from early reports will be half of book three. They could easily spread each book into multiple seasons based on the sheer volume of what happens, but that's not always a realistic approach.
Like almost anything that translates from the page to the screen, there are sacrifices and tweaks. Overall though, this is one of the most faithful transitions I've ever seen.
Having read them, I get the fun of anticipating the reactions of my friends who haven't, and of just seeing the things happen (it was a lot of fun watching Tyrion play the small council members with his 'marriage of Myrcella' stuff, for example). I like having this series be so close to the book; it gives me a counterpoint to Walking Dead where they're really changing things up and giving me a nice surprise from time to time.

I'm more and more impressed with the young actress playing Arya Stark. Her scene with Daddy Lannister was awesome.
I swear by the old gods and the new -- that I love this fucking show.
