Well, I saw The Hunger Games a few days ago and enjoyed it very much.  And while all the talk about being inspired by or derivative of Battle Royale is probably true...

1) one can say that about most films...there's a famous saying about there only recall being seven original ideas, and everything is in someway based on one of them.

2) it's really more an amalgam of two Stephen King stories (The Running Man and The Long Walk). Actually, so is Battle Royale.  But if King himself is OK with this (and based on his original review of the Hunger Games novel, it's clear that he doesn't have an issue with it),  then why should I? Just my opinion, of course...

Though I bet BR is a cooler film...I am a fan of Lawrence & Harrelson, so they made this worth seeing for me anyways...

The Raid: Redemption

Intense film. A little monotonous at times, but the martial arts in this movie is the best action I've seen in a long time.

I saw it last week.  Not bad, but I had a bad experience.  A late-50's man sat in my aisle.  In succession he pulled out of nowhere and loudly at a slurpee, a fruit cup, a packet of craisins, half a bag of potato chips, and a banana.  He neatly laid all of the wrappers on the seat next to him for the world to see.

Kansas City is a fucked up place.

Want to see The Raid: Redemption. Glad to see the positive comments.

Re-watched Soylent Green. Love the Charlton Heston sci-fi movies.
Bought and watched The Flying Guillotine.  I know I had to have seen this on TV when I was a kid because many of the scenes were familiar. Great movie and will be watching the second one soon.

Saw Human Centipede which may just be the sickest movie I've ever seen. And I've seen some pretty bad ones. Surprisingly well done film though.

Also watched The Woman. Another pretty sick horror movie where while on a hunting trip a lawyer discovers a feral woman whom he takes home to the family in an attempt to "civilize" her. It doesn't end well. Wink

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil might be the funniest horror film (or comedy for that matter) I've seen since Shaun of the Dead. Definitely worth a watch if you liked that or Zombieland. Plays havoc with the whole rednecks attacking teens genre with Alan Tudyk (Firefly) as one of the hillbillies. Fun stuff.

Finally saw Basic Instinct (one of the two movies I wasn't allowed to watch as a kid) too. Not a bad film at all. But definitely saw worse content wise prior to being banned from seeing it. So it was a bit of a letdown in that regard.

And of course I saw The Avengers. Which was just fucking awesome from start to finish. Only complaint I have (and it's a minor one); is it made me really wish they hadn't gone with the stupid computer version of Jarvis in the Iron Man films. Cause he would've been alot of fun to have in the sequel. Was kind of hoping Coulson pulled through (though disabled a bit) so he could fill in the role.

I finally watched that on Netflix last weekend and it was a lot of fun. I loved Reaper too so seeing the dude who played Sock in there with AT was a treat. Fun movie.

Finally got around to viewing Cabin in the Woods this weekend. It's a fun film. I'm glad I was able to stay away from spoilers--or the main spoiler, as far as plot is concerned--because it would have ruined my experience.

Zombie goodness!  Watched Night of the Living Dead (1968) last night.  Not as scary as it was when I was a kid, but still very enjoyable.
