I'm not attacking your article, I liked it.  Ending with that last sentence sounded awfully like my second grade teacher scolding me. Wink

Fuck knows he flip flops depending on the weather it seems.
Last I heard he would only do it if he could appear as a ghost, but then reports came in that he changed his mind again.
In the videogame his performance was the most phoned in and it seems like he's only considering it because he's skint after his divorce.

To be honest a large part of me hopes that GB3 doesn't happen because the principles are so fucking old and bloated now.

It's funny that he would be opposed to GB3 after his appearance in Zombieland. They were stroking his ego about it being the best thing he ever did in that movie. He obviously allowed his likeness to be used by Mattel for the GB movie masters line. He likes money.

And as for them being fat and old...I thought the purpose of GB3 was to pass the torch so to speak to perpetuate the franchise with new actors.

Maybe Bill's kinda pissy 'cause he's not part owner/creator the way Ackroyd and Ramis are.

He seems to have a kind of Harrison-with-Star-Wars thing with Ghostbusters.  I'm sure they enjoy whatever money they get from it, but they also want to keep their distance...and a lot of it, usually.

One of the things I like about the number 2 movies, especially the Super hero movie #2's is that you don't have to sit through a rehashing of the hero's origin. Sometimes they rewrite the origin in order to incorporate the antagonist into it (the way Sandman became the real killer of Uncle Ben in Spiderman 3).

Now you get story driven plot, rather without the hour or hour and a half of prequel origin filler.

Now they're planning on rebooting the Spiderman franchise...time for more radioactive spider, and bumbling Peter Parker learning his powers all over again...weak.

I thought he probably took Zombieland just because it was such a good script, I didn't even know he was in it when i watched it and I pissed myself laughing all through his scenes.

"I saw Eddie Van Halen...he's a zombie".

Best thing he's been in for a while imo.

Sorry for the scolding tone -- but I got a little annoyed -- my bad for overreacting.  It just seemed like the article was being interpreted as "these sequels were all better than the originals" -- when that wasn't the point (though a few of them may actually BE better than the originals -- at least in my opinion).

I just re-read your post -- and I know that I should not have reacted that way.  Maybe I should just make this "I apologize again to Sinny" thread.

That said -- I do think it was valid to point out that (a) the film Silence of the Lambs isn't generally considered a sequel and (b) I didn't talk about Crocodile Dundee II anywhere in that article.

The list of best number three's is going to be a lot harder.  Off the top of my head ROTK and ROTJ are about it.  Maybe Last Crusade?  Even the vaunted Godfather franchise couldn't avoid the curse of the triology.

Yeah -- and I don't even really like ROTJ all that much.  More likely to make my list of disappointments than successes. I'm sure THAT would go over well.

Great article and list.  Despite loving the first movie when it came out, I still haven't watched Toy Story 2.  Godfather I and II are due for a re-watching.  I bought the re-mastered DVD set of the trilogy when it was released, but haven't gotten around to watching them.  Evil Dead 2 is definitely a re-make, but belongs on the list.  I won't even watch the original because ED2 is so superior to it.

If i had to post which number 2's didn't live up to what i was hopeing i'd say

transformers 2
starship troopers 2
hills have eyes 2
wrong turn 2
hellboy 2
butterfly effect 2,but butterfly effect 3 wasn't bad
nightmare on elm st 2

More movies for me start to get bad when there on the 3rd installment. By then the main actors are gone or the story is bad or rehased.

A point for Measle for fixing all the grammatical errors and bits of poor writing I e-mailed him about yesterday.  NOW I'm pleased with the final result -- and have posted a link to it on Facebook.

I'd comment on nonameshmos's list -- but the inclusion of some films just made me sad.  I know -- it's all subjective and just opinions and so on.  But FF2?  BB2?  BHC2?  You may be the most generously grading filmgoer I've ever encountered.  I almost wish I could be that way -- being able to enjoy almost anything.  Sadly -- I'm far too cynical and cranky to like so much of the pablum Hollywood has regurgitated over the years.

And maybe I should borrow Road Warrior from one of my friends or rent it on Netflix - I know it's kinda weird that I haven't seen it (especially as I've seen Mad Max a few times).

I was like you for a long time and it really ruined the over all movie experance. So i try to keep an open mind and go into it expecting the worst But hope for the best. Try not to focus on what they didn't do.

Pay more attention to story and see what they did do right. And just ease up on being so critical on every movie that came out and just try to enjoy the ride i guess.

By the way i heared megan fox won't be back for transformers 3

Well, I focus first and foremost on whether the story is well-done/well told, and then on the acting, directing, and so on.  I'm a lover of film -- and I can't give a pass to some big bloated piece of shit someone spent tens and sometimes hundreds of millions of dollars on if I wasn't genuinely entertained.  Otherwise -- I'd be putting the Fanta commercials and the "silence your cellphone" ads on the same level as the actual movies that follow them.

And I'd probably prefer to watch a constant loop of those ads than sit through either Fantastic Four movie ever again. puke

Blasphemy. I refuse to accept any list of sequels that does not include "Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo".

c'mon, it's the only sequel name that properly rolls off the tongue! Cheesy
