Amanda is just doing covers.  Interior art is someone else who I've never heard of.  And I've yet to see any interior art to comment on.

I can respect that.  But I'd still buy 'em.  I've loved the Freedom Fighters (et al) since I was eleven years old.

I have a great affection for the original team.  I thought that Ray Acuna-illustrated series was pretty good, but I think he had more to do with that than Palmiotti and Grey. The second series sucked ass.

No, I wouldn't support a Nu Phantom Lady, Dollman and especially not the new Ray. I'll page throught the P. Lady mini or special, but the art would have to knock my socks off to even think about taking it home. Frankly, I'd rather purchase that Phantom Lady Archives (non-DC version) that came out last year.

Sorry, I wasn't talking about buying the books.  I might but that's beside the point.  I was referring to buying any figures that get made, however unlikely.  And that would include nU Freedom Fighters/Quality characters.

That is my only nU exception.

Oh yeah, I got that.

Personally, I'm at the point where it's very unlikely I'll buy anything nu -- even if I like the design. Odds are that I won't even be buying classic figures in a year or two.

BTW, I'm just exercising my virtual gums.  I don't really expect much in the way of the Quality characters/Freedom Fighters.  From Mattel or anyone else.

Was just looking at the Fwoosh.  Someone over there who has displayed a bit of insider knowledge from time to time thinks Unce Sam will show up in the sub reveals.  Pound of salt.

Does anyone care for the modern versions of these characters?

Eh. I can't see Mattel doing better than DC Direct's. And that version should be very compatible with DCUC. But for those who don't have it, good luck, I guess.

The DCD Uncle Sam (and Phantom Lady, for that matter) do fit nicely height-wise with DCUC, though I think a decent DCUC Sam could be done.

If they were to only make ONE representative Freedom Fighter, I think Sam is it. He's arguably the best choice as a stand-alone character, and doesn't 'require' the presence of other FF'ers.

Frankly, I'm still surprised he never showed up in the retail line-- I would think his patriotic quality would have guaranteed some amount of sales from not only those who don't collect the line, but also from those that don't buy action figures at all.
