Yeah DC didn't want two Wildfire's in the comics at one time. They thought people would get a hot red head confused with an energy based containment suit.
Happens to me all the time. I agree all around about Quality having some characters that would pop on the shelf that I'd be happy to add to my collection. I definitely want the FF first though. I think they'd be a great "small" team that DCUC could do after Doom Patrol and the Metal Men.

Could I suggest that the article be accompanied by a good, clear, full body, iconic image of Uncle Sam? I'm pretty sure most people will agree on who the Freedom Fighters should be ... it really should come down to which versions

I'm trying to abstain from Mojo and the inevitable fight that I feel will resurface as it returns. I would appreciate it if everyone would respect that and not give me any. Thank you.

Talking specifically about Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters' abscence until the 70's-
I have NO idea if this is true or not, but can an argument be made that they were kept under wraps as maybe an unconscious response to the troubled and relatively "unpatriotic" sentiments fairly predominant in the US during the 60's? Isn't this when Wonder Woman herself lost the star-spangled outfit and went 'mod'?
When the 70's rolled around, as we got closer and closer to the bi-centennial, patriotic heroes and nostalgia for "America" surged and there was that wealth of older heroes suddenly on the comeback. Once the wave of 'go-America-ness' died down, Uncle Sam slipped back into occasionally quait status.
I hope he comes out soon myself. I think he's got a great look.

The Bicentennial Wonder Woman comic was Golden Age TV-show based and suddenly met a spaceship and transitioned to MA.
When did the FREEDOM FIGHTERS first show up in JLoA?

Yup, the Freedom Fighters as a team didn't exist until then, so I'd say "No" to the hush-up theory

That indicates to me that there must be more than five people worldwide after all then...

http://www.internationalhero.co.uk/q/quality.htmI've posted this before. But it's worth doing so again. Quality really and truly put out some of the wildest, craziest stuff from the GA. Think of some of the stuff Morrison, Moore, and Ellis have done in the MA. I think that's the equivalent of what Quality did in the GA. I'm the sixth person who wants 'em all. Throw in the Spirit too. Also published by Quality back in the day.

Does anyone care for the modern versions of these characters? Mike (I, for one, do not.)

I didn't mind the first series of the MA one - if they made them as variants I'd be happy enough.
