Welcome to the first edition of Hey Kids! Comics! We're retiring The Quick Fix title. The Quick Fix was a leftover from the days that The Spinner Rack was called Four Color Crack. I'm pretty sure Measle, John, and Trans were tripping balls when they made the Mess. As always, PM your reviews to Chooch by 9pm Mountain Time every Sunday.

Fear Itself #4 - Worlds on Fire
$4/22 pages - 18 cents/page
Steve puts on the Cap suit to rally the troops and then... Thor goes from the big battle to a little one while Iron Man throws years of sobriety away to talk to Odin. Because that's how you get Odin's attention, apparently.
Thunderbolts #160
$3/20 pages - 15 cents/page
The main Thunderbolts team gets inside of Juggernaut's head, but can't snap him out of it because he's needed for a few X-crossovers. I never thought pictographs would work for a story.
Vengeance #1
$4/22 pages - 18 cents/page
Joe Casey puts in another "too cool for itself" comic, but at least he's entertaining when he does it.
Flashpoint: Secret Seven #2 - Call of the Wild
$3/20 pages - 15 cents/page
The loss of George Perez really highlights just how little this book has holding it together. I have a tangential knowledge as to who some of these characters are in the regular DCU, but I have no clue who any of them are in this all-different world. Why should I care when they die?
Secret Six #35 - Caution to the Wind pt. 1
$3/20 pages - 15 cents/page
Going out with a bang!
Irredeemable #27
$4/22 pages - 18 cents/page
The Plutonian finally punches his way back to Earth.
G.I. Joe #3
$4/22 pages - 18 cents/page
Javier Saltares is still all kinds of wrong for this book, but hot damn if Dixon isn't finally kicking off some action!
Transformers #21 - Space Opera - Final Tableaux: Orphans of the Helix/Police Action: Prologue
$4/22 pages - 18 cents/page
Lazy captions indicating the writer didn't have enough pages to get where he needed to go organically. They may very well be setting up something awesome, but getting there stinks.
Immortal Weapons TPB
One-issue stories starring Fat Cobra, Bride of Nine Spiders, Dog Brother #1, Tiger's Beautiful Daughter, and Prince of Orphans. They are all varying levels of awesome. The Iron Fist backup that ran throughout pretty much blew, but the main stories more than make up for it.
Deadpool Classic Vol. 4 TPB
The Mithras storyline finally wraps up with something of a whimper.
The Invincible Iron Man Vol. 4: Stark Disassembled TPB
Why can't this Matt Fraction be writing Fear Itself? Tony Stark wipes his mind and restores it from a backup. Also, Salvador Larroca deserves a raise for being consistently awesome.
The Invincible Iron Man Vol. 5: Stark Resilient pt. 1 TPB
Tony Stark returns to a world where he doesn't remember Civil War or the last two women he slept with. He's also broke and decided to forgo his only meal ticket.
Vengeance of the Moon Knight Vol. 2: Killed, Not Dead TPB
Some decent stories with spectacular art from Tan Eng Huat and Juan Jose Ryp. The last issue is a better Secret Avengers comic than any single issue of the actual series.
X-Factor Vol. 11: Happenings in Vegas TPB
Occasionally a writer will take various heroes that failed elsewhere and put them together on a team. Mostly they fail to make it six issues. Rarely you get something like the original New Warriors book. This is much, much more the latter. I'd go so far as saying a book starring Multiple Man, Shatterstar, a de-powered Rictor, Strong Guy, Darwin, Longshot, Banshee (nee Siryn), and an annoying ill-defined girl in a woman's body has any right to be good, but this is awesome beyond words.
Ultimate Comics Avengers: Next Generation TPB
Millar makes a black ops team that consists almost entirely of second rate versions of established heroes. Tony Stark's older brother is a massive continuity issue for his origin. Isn't the Ulimate U supposed to relieve us of such things?
Ultimate Comics Avengers: Crime & Punishment TPB
Millar spends less time giving us second-rate heroes (although there's some of that) and more time giving Ultimate Ghost Rider a purpose.
Ulimate Comics Iron Man: Armor Wars TPB
Ignoring Millar's continuity nightmare entirely, Ellis gives us what he's best at: an R-rated take on what it means to be a super-hero. Steve Kurth has come a long way since he relaunched G.I. Joe for Devil's Due, especially on the tech side. His human figures vary in quality from page to page though.
Ultimate Comics Spider-Man Vol. 1: The World According to Peter Parker TPB
In the wake of Ultimatum (the less said about the better) Peter's life returns to its normal unpredictableness. Bendis at his best.
Ultimate Comics Spider-Man Vol. 2: Chameleons TPB
Continuing the awesome.
Talk about it here!
