CriticalMess.Net Mattel Q&A for December 15th, 2009

Hyperion asks:

"While you have often stated that no characters are explicitly out of the running for inclusion in the DCUC line, is there a point where characters that, due to their non-humanoid nature (i.e. Tellus and Gates of the LoSH, the boxy SA Computo, Charaxas, Winged Victory, many of the GL/Sinestro Corp members, etc.) would be so difficult to sculpt, create and produce in either the standard or BaF format that they thus get pushed off the list for production reasons?"

Nope. The line has plenty of 100% tool’d figures as both Collect and Connect and standard figures (Ares is a great example). No one is pushed off just because they need more tooling.

Gardner Grayle asks:

""Yes, in time the plan is to redo most of the big guns in multiple outfits including our favorite Amazon Princess."

This is your answer to another website's question.  Do the "big guns" include Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Green Arrow, etc., or just Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman?"

Yes, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter and Green Arrow would all be good candidates for multiple versions. We are also looking at multiple versions of B and C level characters as well if there is enough fan demand!

Mutiple Members ask:

"I'd like to know if characters that have already been done in MA style might be remade down the line as a classic version?  Riddler, Metallo, Bizarro, Black Lightning, Adam Strange, etc.  Is this idea on the table at least?"

Yes, we will look at doing characters in both modern and classic looks over the length of the line.

Multiple Members ask:

"Would a JSA box-set, like the Gotham City 5 set, be feasible? It could include repaints of, say, Superman and Batman as young 1940s Earth-2 versions, a re-tool of Wildcat with a different GA-centric head and no wraps, Dr. Fate in gold and maybe a hard-sell-as-a-single character like the original Red Tornado. This would be a boon to JSA fans, because the GA JSA isn't complete without those characters, but it also features minimal re-tooling and DC's two biggest characters."

This is a great suggestion but nothing is confirmed at this time.

Multiple Members ask:

"Is it possible to mix and match the bucks from the other Mattel 6-7 inch lines, MotUC, Ghost Busters, WWE, Movie Masters, and DCUC to give some size diversity to the various lines?  All the figures in DCUC are starting to look the same size.  Bigger characters need a bigger buck."

No, we will not be mixing bucks between branded lines. You will not see a MOTU buck show up on the GB or DC line.
