CriticalMess.Net Mattel Q&A for November 1st, 2009

Hyperion asks:

"What are the chances that "minion/army builders" can be made for the DCUC line?  Are there plans for such things?  Figures like the Hunger Dogs, HIVE troopers, Manhunters, Khund warriors, German troops, GI's (for a filled out Easy Company) and generic thugs, just to name a few.  Made into Matty-packs to save space on the pegs for important characters, of course."

I do have plans for army builder figures but can not reveal it quite yet!

Haterade asks:

"You have namechecked the Suicide Squad as a team you'd like to eventually get to.  There's some obvious choices there, ranging from Bronze Tiger to Digger Harkness Captain Boomerang to Count Vertigo to Enchantress and Blockbuster.  But what about Amanda Waller and Rick Flag Jr.?  Despite their "civilian looks," do you consider them key members of the squad, the way that one considers the Chief as a key member of the Doom Patrol?"

Amanda Waller would be a great figure to add to the Classics line. I did her in JLU after all. Nothing to announce quite yet!

Josey Wales asks:

"Kudos for a wide selection of traditional heroes from all Ages of DC's history. However there are many nontraditional heroes who have substantial fan followings such as Warlord who appeared in JLU, western heroes such as Bat Lash, sword & sorcery type heroes such as Claw the Unconquered, & WWII heroes such as Unknown Soldier. Are there any definite plans to get these type characters out in 2010 as Matty exclusives or otherwise? "

I do have plans for these characters, but I may not get to all of them in 2010.

JSayonara asks:

"Just saw over on AFI's recent ask Matty that it is still not confirmed whether DCUC waves sold on Matty Collector will be sold individually.

If the decision is made to sell waves in a box set rather than separately will the sets come with the build a figure? If the waves are sold individually will there be an option to buy an entire wave in complete packaging to save shipping costs?
'
I can appreciate the loss of variants but if the boxes come without the C'n'C character consider me a no sale, with I imagine many others."

When DCUC figures are for sale on Mattycollector.com, they will be sold as a box set with all 7 figures plus the 50/50 variant figure. The only one not included will be the retail chase figure. So for example, for Wave 11, if we get Wave 11 on Mattycollector.com, you will get both version of Mary Batson, but only the non clear version of Deadman).

Zebra-Man asks:

"Is a Batmobile unfeasible for DCUC? The "Super Powers" Batmobile would fit the apparent "Super Powers Plan" and was used in the comics as well. It's a good design and on the smaller side which I'd think would make it ideal for production purposes, shelf placement and display at home."

6” scale vehicles are hard. It is a lot of tooling to pull off, but if we were going to do one, the Batmobile would be a top choice. No plans at this time though.
