CriticalMess.net Mattel Q&A for June 15th, 2009
Dr. Terrific asks:
"I love the engineering for the Gentlemen Ghost! Bravo for a clever solution to a great villain. Is there any other figure you are dying to make but feel limited by his/her design?"
We’ve got a great team of designers and engineers ready to tackle any character that comes up! We love finding creative solutions for unique characters.
Abstractharmony asks:
"Would it be possible - if it ever appears that the JLU line is coming to an end (or indeed before...) - to make available on Mattycollector a line of blank JLU bucks - Standard Male, Standard Female, Caped Male, Caped Female etc. for the customisers to crack on with teams such as LOSH, All Star Squadron & JSA."
No, we don’t have any plans at the time for doing blank bodies. We are much more interested in putting our efforts into doing all new figures!
Multiple members ask:
"I still remember mail ordering "special" action figures that arrived in a plain wrapper or cardboard box. Would putting matty.com figures in a generic package save everyone money? Do fans really want exclusive JLU figures, for example, in JLU packaging?"
You tell us! If fans would prefer plain packaging for the Matty.com figures this is something we can look into.
Gardner Grayle asks:
"There seems to be a lot of changes going on in DC Comics. Does that affect Mattel's agreement with DC in any way? I'm thinking Red Circle/Archie, Milestone, the Spirit, Doc Savage, etc being added to the mix. Any chance of some of these characters in DCUC any time soon?"
Our agreement with DC covers the standard DC Universe Superheroes and villains. We will not be doing figures based on any new DC acquisitions at this time.
Multiple members ask:
"Will we see the Wildcat variants before SDCC?"
Yes. The Blue Wildcat has been sent out to major Fan sites.
