Irredeemable #26 - Plutonian and his new 'ally' work their way further down into the prison planet in their attempt to escape.  Plutonian seems to be putting together a team of superpowered crazies along the way, which is probably going to be very bad for the folks back on Earth.

Well, it sure has been an interesting week. The interwebs are aflame with the news of a "reboot-not-a reboot-well maybe it's sort of a reboot" from you.

My thoughts have ranged all over the place so this is my attempt at getting them all down.

I've been posting on the Mess for a couple of years now. I've always been very free with my opinions, but I'm not normally one to pre-judge. I'm too experienced, and have seen great ideas flop (All Star Batman comes to mind) and what seemed to be poor ideas on the surface turn out well (crippling of Barbara Gordon). So patience is a virtue.

Secret Avengers #13
$4/22 pages - 18 cents/page

Nick Spencer's last issue was a gritty tale examinination of the compromises Steve Rogers has to make in his position.  This issue had a previously unidentified Omega Level mutant reading the Gettysburg Address and then dying.  Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.

Zatanna #13 - A cat with an eyeball that tells the future shows up and clues Zatanna in on a possible confrontation soon to come with the Spectre.  Zee goes to confront the big white dude, only to have him more or less piss on her and fly away.  Meanwhile, we find out Brother Night just might be the proud papa of Zee's favorite local detective.  Kind of a down issue in a good series.

Lone Ranger #25 - Cavendish's fate revealed, Tonto makes peace with his tribe, and the Ranger tells the gov't he might be willing to work with them when it suits his own purpose.  I really liked this book, but with the long time between issues I'm honestly kinda glad this is the endgame.

Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors #9 - The 4 Earth GL's argue amongst themselves about what they should do.  Surprise.  Guy and Hal run headlong into the entity-possessed Guardians.  Probably not going to end well.

Avengers #12.1

Bryan Hitch used to get a lot of flack for being an Alan Davis knock-off.  They both changed styles over time and Hitch's star ascended.  Meanwhile, Alan Davis has been getting less primo assignments and for whatever reason, slanting everything.  It appears that he's grown out of that phase, but now Hitch has picked it up.  His torsos have been elongated as well.  I don't think I'm being overly harsh considering this issue was designed to pull in new readers.  Best foot forward and all of that.  Bendis has some issues as well.  Steve Rogers has never heard of S.W.O.R.D.?  How did he come up with the "handpicked" team?  How come this Avenger team hasn't starred in their own book for seven issues? Also, Awesome Andy without his chalkboard makes me sad.

Dungeons & Dragons #6 - Interim story while Fell's Five is trapped in time after jumping through the portal at the end of the last issue.  Tells the story of the meeting of the original 4.  Adric is working as a guard on a caravan headed for a mysterious lost city.  Along the way he saves Khal from a bulette attack, and upon arrival learns that the wizard in charge of the caravan may not know as much about the place as he let on.  Then the elves show up...

The Boys #53 - We find out just what a cluster the first Vought American superhero team really was.  What's that you say, Soldier Boy?  You need help?  Here, see if this potato masher grenade helps.  I'll be the normal guy walking out of this alive, thanks.
