1. Given the presence of an Uncle Sam and Doll Man in the sub, would you consider the classic Freedom Fighters as a team you’ve started?

Given that only 3-4 characters seem to be on every "top ten" list, how close attention do you pay to the various "most wanted" lists from the FWOOSH, Criticalmess, mattycollector, etc.?

Mattel Answers the Mess 08-15-12
Questions were sent in before the end of the 2013 subscription period, so they don't reflect the final sales tally and subsequent passage of the sub, but here they are for August 15th, 2012. Take it away, Matty!
1. Now that Mattel is producing 2 of the classic Freedom Fighters in the sub, do any of the remaining core team (The Ray, Black Condor, Phantom Lady, Human Bomb) present any prohibitive tooling challenges?
As long as we have enough customers nothing is off the table.
2. While the Brain looks pitch-perfect...In virtually all of Mallah's key appearances, from the Drake-Premiani early days, to Paul Kupperberg, to Grant Morrison, to the Wolfman-Perez "Brotherhood of Evil" Teen Titans era, "Who's Who" entries, and even as recently as Salvation Run, Monsieur Mallah has been colored brown. But in the photos from San Diego he looks gray to me. Can you confirm what color Mallah will be?
He is a mix of brown and black.
3. If the reports from San Diego are correct, you have ruled out more oversized figures after Mallah in the 2013 sub. But would a JSA Johnny Thunder/Thunderbolt 2-pack be possible instead of an oversized offering?
If we have enough customers anything is possible. It all depends on how the sub sells. We have a meter noting the number of sub holders we need for the min and for us to do 100% tool'd figures in 2014.
4. Regarding the Watchmen line... Any chance for 3 different heads packed in with the Comedian? Scarred, Unscarred, and the creepy leather full-headed mask from both the classic Dave Gibbons art and the cover of Before Watchmen: Comedian #1?
This is something we are looking into if we have enough customers to justify the tooling.
5. One of the more disheartening decisions by Mattel for DCUC fans, was that after the rapid sell-through of the Legion of Super-Heroes Boxed Set, came the announcement that there would be no more boxed sets. Often you've asked fans to step up, and we did in this case, and this boxed-set format of getting classic figures to fans was discontinued. Given that we're at 12 classic figures a year, and there's dozens more classic Legionnaires, not to mention Flash Rogues, All-Star Squadron members, Outsiders, Teen Titans, Morrison JLA-ers, JLA Detroit, Secret Society of Super-Villains, Freedom Fighters, and Seven Soldiers of Victory-- is there any chance Mattel will reconsider their decision on boxed sets?
We don't have the resources for more box sets but if we have enough customers to continue 6" singles we can certainly look at these characters!
Talk about it here!

Wakko gives his thoughts on DC, the sub, and the love of a property.
Way before there was DC Universe Classics, there was Mattel’s Batman line. While beautifully sculpted by the Four Horsemen, the line was obviously limited to Batman and his family and rogues, with a predictable (but understandable) emphasis on Batman repaints. How nice it would be, we thought, for a line with a wider selection of characters, fewer repaints, and more articulation.
